Something not mentioned on here, we have scored 4 goals in the last 10 mins of 2 games. Shows how we are improving fitness wise and going to the end similar to teams like united. Stevie carr motored up the line for one of them which shows that if you look after yourself age is no problem. Now mcleish deserves credit for getting new fitness staff in (and the board also for allowing it). Obviously I dont want us to go behind, but I have confidence if we do we can come back :applause: |

It surprises me that we've come back at least 3 times this season to win, especially as we don't normally do goals. |

Is it me or has our chronic luck with injuries improved somewhat since cy and co arrived? Have they allowed eck to sign some extra fitness persons or something? It's amazing how relatively injury free our squad is at the moment. Im hoping i havent just jinxed that! |

Actually it's not just the fitness I've noticed it's also the rapid decline in injuries - Remember all those seasons under the previous lot when we seemed to have the longest injury list in the history of football. SB constantly going on about -"when get wor big players back" even at the start of this season we seemed to have a fair few suffering, then CY comes in and Alex names an unchanged side for 13 games, even when Chucho was clattered he was only out for 1 game. Now call me a cynic but Peter Pannu's words (at least I think it was him may have been Sammy Yu) about the club being like a Boot Camp ring louder every time we fiedl the same side. Maybe those injuries weren't as serious as they were made out to be but the players just didn't want to play for the club, or shou ddl I say the management at the time. |

Since Alex changed the physio earlier in the season we don't get the strains and niggles we used to get on the trainig pitch. The fitness and sports science guys we now have seem to be doing a better job than those we had previously. All this is down to the new regime giving Alex the backing to improve the infrastructure of the club which the previous Board refused to do. |

Not at all. The improvement in the injuries and the increase in fitness is due to one thing - the departure of Sully&Co who were so narrow-minded in terms of financing operating costs. Physios, doctors and sports science tools were unecessary overheads to them. You can't blame Bruce because McLeish suffered it as well under the old owners. As soon as the Chinese came in McLeish was there with his needs list. |

Well SB and Eric Black could have summat to do with it, i mean look at he injuries ravaging their Sunderland side at the moment, all seem to be knee or hamstring injuries, just like when they were at Blues. |

Extra staff has helped, but here's my take on the issue. Under Bruce the players were encouraged to always go the extra mile, whihc in Bruce's terms meant that they would stretch for the maturally unreachable tackles/balls/interceptions etc.. I believe that lead to strains and even breaks as the leg was overstretched on impact, or was in the wrong position when the tackle came together. Under McLeish I believe the players are still working pretty hard, but in a more organised and effective manner, so that they are encouraged to do what they can do normally, but to do it consistently and do it well. Very different styles I think. |
