Seems that Pavlyuchenko wants to come to Blues in the summer... but ONLY if there aren't any better offers! Would we really want a player coming to Blues with that kind of attitude?

If Birmingham are the only option, I would go there,' said Pavlyuchenko. 'I would go anywhere just to play.

'But a return to Russia is preferable for me. And the only club at home where both the coach and the president really wanted me this winter was Lokomotiv Moscow.'

I really don't think he'd be any good for us.

He can't get into the Spurs team so he's obviously not doing it in the Prem - and we need someone with the right attitude as well.

But Spurs have Defoe and Crouch who would both walk into our team so not getting in ahead of them doesnt make him rubbish, not that i think hes the answer to all our problems as hes getting on abit now anyway.

I asked my spurs fan mate here about him and he said:

"he's alright, he's just too slow"

He really wasn't that positive about him.

If his preference is a return to Russia, what's wrong with what he has said? How many players have gushed over joining us before talks have got under way? It's not necessarily a sign of a bad attitude.

i'm not keen, for the money , length of contract - total package , I think we could do better. I hink he just looked the best on offer at the time , he is agood player but not the 'trophy' player everybody craved , even though he wanted trophy wages!!!!

It is a tall strong CF we want , hope there will be more choice in the summer.

I'm sure Pavlyuchenko sees us as a hungry team on the way up with potential in the Premier League and ambition to further ourselves. He can carve a niche hear with regular first team football. What makes me wonder about Spurs is they bought him in and then have this 'ain't good enough" attitude towards him. Good players don't get bad overnight (Jerome excepted - only joking Cameron! X).

Well firstly we have to question if the newspaper article is accurate. If it is then I understand your concern. At the end of the day you would have to have a talk with the player himself before you signed him.

I totally agree if the player has had a hard time settling in the UK and wants to go back home then we shouldnt sign him. No disrespect to anyone but at the end of the day we want players who want to come here and play for us and make their mark. We dont want big time charlies on expensive pay days and if someone is in two minds well there's only so much persuasion one can and should offer.

Totally agree that we have to raise the bar and make sure those who play for BCFC should be fully on board and be proud to wear the shirt and understand a performance is required of them for this privilege.

What attitude exactly though?

He answered a question honestly. Fair play to him.

I agree and I thinck Mcleish thought the same as well thats why he didnt get him. This will be a good summer for transfers because players can get spoted at the world cup and i thinck we will be able to get more for are money.

He has been badly let down and badly treated by Redknapp and Bond.
It is no wonder he yearns to be back at home.
If he did come to Blues I am sure his yearning would disappear when under the wing of Alex McLeish.

'if Birmingham was the only option' he said!'

I think Bournville is right to question Pav's comments, anyway wasn't he or his agent pitching for a substantial salary and an adittional personal transfer fee...?

We have moneys in the Summer - more fish in the sea then to my mind!

I think he is a really good player , I have seen him for Russia and he is a real good finisher and a good all round centre forward. I would definatley want him here.
