It says that Blues are ready to make a £10m deal in the summer for him, and that McLeish recently said: “We spoke (to Celtic) and there will be investment."
“They said that if push came to shove there would be a wee bit more if we went for a player of certain quality.”

Sounds good! :ball:

The powers of deduction from the OP confuse me. How does the referenced statements link with us completing a deal for McGeady?

I hope not. But old Alex does like to wind me up.

Season 1 - O'Connor
Season 2 - Bent
Season 3 - Fahey
Season 4 - McGeadey?

Why did he, does he or will he select these players? Why can the fans see it well before Alex and his team get round to seeing it?

Lowdham - get your facts right before you blindly slag off McLeish.

1) O'Connor was a Bruce signing.

2) Bent was admittedly an awful one from McLeish, but at the time it was probably the best he could get with the resources given by the old board.

3) How you can call Fahey a poor signing is beyond belief.

4) McGeady has all the attributes to play at the Premier League. £10m is a bit dear, but certainly £8m wouldn't be flattering of his talent.

I'll agree with Bent but what's wrong with O'connor and Fahey? Both have done well given the respective situations the were bought in to help with.

How can you preach to me what winds me up and what does not.

O'Connor - McLeish repeatedly picked him in the relegation season. I don't care a t*ss who signed him. McLeish kept picking him.
Bent - it's no secret he wound me up. It started 30 mins into the Sheff U game.
Fahey - not Prem class, yet McLeish is picking him in front of Prem players.
McGeadey - just watch the SFL Celtic games on Sky, then you'll see how rubbish he is.

Lowdham is definetly on a wind-up with this one, putting Fahey in the same category as Bent :fishing:

no wind-up Wardend.

Do you honestly think Fahey is good enough for us? He'd suit Gold as he likes being yo-yo.

Just because he plays for Blues doesn't mean he's the right player for us. Like O'Connor, like Bent in previous seasons - why is Alex picking him? We did OK unbeaten in the league when he was sub all the time.

Tell me Lowdham, can you give me some examples of Premier League managers (past or present) who haven't made bad signings?

Ferguson - Diego Forlan, Massimo Taibi, Djemba Djemba, Kleberson.

Wenger - Francis Jeffers, Pascal Cygan, Igor Stepanovs, Richard Wright.

Benitez - Morientes, Jan Kromkamp, Mark Gonzalez, Bruno Cheyrou.

Mourinho - Kezman, Jiri Jarosik.

Moyes - Van Der Meyde, Anderson Silva.

Every manager makes the odd duff signing but for every Bent you get a Roger Johnson, Scott Dann, Stephen Carr, Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer.

I think you need to gain a little perspective.

Briggsy I am not going on about the signings. We all make mistakes and so do managers when signing players.

The wind-up for me is the regularity of picking such players that I mentioned above. O'Connor, Bent and Fahey. I won't get too much support regarding Fahey on here as there are too many paddies and plastic paddies who won't have anything said about their own. But no way should Fahey be picked week in ,week out.

From what I have seen of McGeadey - he will be bad signing (IMO) but what will wind me up would be repeatedly picking him even though we know he is not up to it.

Making a mistake is fine, just learn from it.

Yeah, it's frustrating how Marcus Bent hasn't played once this season and has been sent on loan twice. How can McLeish just not see he's not good enough?!

fahey was a massive part of us getting promoted - not only with his goals but also his passing ability - he turned round the second half of the season for us

You made the same mistake as me, O'Connor was Bruce's signing not McLeish.
I know you are not the biggest fan of O'Connor but you cant blame McLeish for bringing him to BCFC he was already here when McLeish arrived.

Considering McLeish thought we were short of players and we didnt have much money I think Fahey has been a good find on the budget we had. I know you would rather have Ryan Giggs or Downing but we couldnt afford them - simples.

You say Bent was a terrible signing but he played 27 games for us between 2008-2009. I know he only scored 3 goals which isnt great. But we werent out of the top 3 for the majority of the season and finished runner up and got automatic promotion. You may say we got promoted inspite of him with Phillips and Jerome doing the business. But he was part of a successsful promotion squad.

I was up in Glagsow last week and got speaking to a few Celtic Fans. They didn't rate Mcgeady to be fair they said he was little light weight who flattered to decieve. After hearing their thoughts I wouldn't be wasting money on him if I was Mcleish.

If McGeady were to come here I would support Big Eck and Aiden 100%.

I live in Coventry and know plenty of CCFC fans, interestingly enough before we signed Scott Dann most of them reckoned that he would be no big loss. Most fans thought their crown jewels were Gunnarson who has gone off the boil big time this season, Fox who is now fighting against relegation with Burnley and Westwood who, granted is a very talented player.

My point is Dann wasn't rated by many Coventry fans and let's face it, would many of us have said ''Let's have a look at that Scott Dann from Coventry''? before the start of the season? Most probably not, now bar his performance on Saturday he has been an outstanding performer for us.

You can't deny McLeish has an eye for a player, this is a man who brought Mikel Arteta to the shores of Britain, if he sees something in McGeady and reckons he can hack it down here then i'm all for it.

McGeady will likely come to BCFC in the summer

But the fee won't be 10 million

More like 7.5 million....8 mill tops

I guarantee it
