I'd disagree with that particualr statement to some point Trev was pushed, clearly the fragile relationship he had with Sullivan and Brady had worn itself out Bruce walked out on the club after a series of poor results had transpired into a crisis.....He couldn't get the best out of of O'Connor, Ridgewell or Quedrue (players he himself signed) whereas Alex did......and good players like Cunningham, Upson, Dunn and Savage were slowly driven out I used to like Steve Bruce.....top bloke who did very well for 3 years......But he soon lost it and could not work under pressure, decided to reach for too many excuses to feed the increasingly impatient and fed up Blues fans as well .....stayed well and truly hidden for a couple of weeks behind some "I want a new contract nonsense" fed to the media when a new contract could not even be written and endorsed by Carson Yeung due to Stock Exchange rules at that time.....certainly no fault of Carson Yeung but Brucey played it as his ace up the sleeve But not anymore.....have no time for him.....a Judas pure and simple just like Lou Macari 16 years before him and just like Ron Atkinson when he walked out of Sheffield Wednesday after leading them back to the top flight Don't fall for this ""I'll always love the Blues with all my heart" crocodile tear act at all.....How could anyone with even an ounce of loyalty desert a massive well supported big city club and go to a pit like Wigan who will never be a major force in the Premier League as long as they remain some anonymous North West town more famous for it's Hot Pies and Rugby League sides Even at Blues, Bruce had one eye on St James Park or Old Trafford......I'd be very surprised if he ever ends up at either of them certainly not the latter Yes, I agree, Bruce could have been given more cash but Sullivan, Gold and Brady were all getting cold feet.....and look at the Vines, the Blakes , the Jarosiks, the Butts, the Izzets, the Claphams, The Kingsons of the world and plenty of others, can you not see it was no wonder thay closed the register firmly shut All History now......I quite like what the current bloke is doing :banner: :banner: |

I think SB left us for Wigan because it was more money, and the set-up there was better for him. More money to spend on players, more wages, the Yeung takeover looked like it was going sour & I don't blame him for not wanting to work for the old lot any more. I think Blacksmith & Blue Raphaelite have summed up this subject in a nutshell. To try & argue the point, quoting one line here and there from a plethora of well thought out comments, is simply being obtuse. Bruce did spend a long time with us as player & manager, and he's done nothing but praise the current Blues' set up in the interview, so why people feel the need to have a pop is strange. There's no denying Bruce did bring something positive to the club, as did TF & currently AMc. He's also spot on about us needing to buy a top striker. |

Worn itself out? TF did not help himself by behaving like a spoilt brat, everytime he did not get his own way he went running to the press.
you really do twist things to suit your point of view don't you? Please explain how the likes of Dunn,Savage and Upson were slowly driven out of the club? Is this the same R Savage that less than 6 months after signing a new long term contract decided that he needed to live closer to his mother in Wrexham so moved to Blackburn? Is this the same D Dunn who spent a majority of his time at the club injured. who then decided that he wanted to move back closer to his young daughter. Is this the same M upson who went pleading direct to D Sullivan to get his permission to move to West ham on £50k a week. which as we now know was done behind his managers back...
where is this massive well supported big city club ?? is this the same massive well supported club that has one of the smallest grounds in the prem and despite various low priced ticket games still cannot fill it. and i'm pretty sure that if you compare the size of Birmingham and Wigan and compare the size of the crowds for games i think Wigan may well be better supported. Terry Cooper, Trevor Francis,Steve Bruce David sullivan,David & Ralph gold, Karrenn brady have all contribruted to where we are today good or bad. they all did what they thought was the right thing at the time for the club i do not see the point of this constant bitterness towards any of them. what does it achieve. |

My word, the inabilty to comprehend written prose by some people is frightening. Did they never attend their English lessons at school? If you read my post I am referring to the slagging off of an outside friend of the club, of which we do not have many. Which is totally different to slagging off current personnel. |

Is your next get-out clause going to be that if you slag a member of blues on na Sunday or Monday it doesn't count as slagging, but if you do it on a Wednesday it does? Talk about cringing twisting squirming - jeez man, words fail me. Never read such arrogant nonsense in years. :LMAO: |

I think you'll find it's well documented that most of these players left because of Bruce's methods Kenny Cunningham went as far as to suggest that Bruce had no clue, especially on the training ground.......and Kenny C along with The Duga were arguably the 2 greatest players we had during the entire Bruce regime.....His candid interview just about confirmed everything that was troubling us supporters from the early part of the 2005/06 relegation season Take your point on Savage, the 'Wrexham commute thingy' was pathetic but it was also reported more than once that he'd had enough of Bruce's tactics and style as well
You can't admit it obviously but potentially Blues are a massive club......we have 3 top clubs in the Brum area if you rightfully include the Albion who also draw support from this city as well whereas Wigan only have one.....Wigan also attracted a measely 5,000 for the Cup game with Hull earlier this season.....Do you still think Wigan are a better supported club then ?? Pull the other one, please One of the smallest grounds ?? :LMAO: Even Wolves have a smaller ground than us.....as do Fulham, Wigan, Hull City, Bolton, Blackburn and Stoke......and in fact West Ham and Spurs (2 well known and established clubs in London who have also won many trophies in the past) only have capacities 5-7 thousand bigger than SA and their stadia have had uplifts a lot more recently as well ......You really are reaching now
No point really, as I said in my first post, they are all history....but Bruce was a Judas....if you really want to believe he has this strong 'love' connection with Birmingham City Football Club and it's fans then that's your perogative.....It certainly isn't my own ....Bottom line he used us a stepping stone club......Just as he used all of the previous clubs he had managed beforehand The man is as selfish as they come......So me, yes, I feel some bitterness and I think Sullivan and Gold did the right thing for exposing the true Steve Burce after he left and the manner in which he left the club......Have you forgotten his image rights claim already ?? and if I'm not mistaken Sullivan let him keep most of it ???......... Hmm !! It's all about personal opinions |

Phew Parti!! what a rant, I`m totally agin you on this one my old mucker, Kenny C was an absolute a/h off the pitch. I went to the end of season do at the NEC the season we finished 10th Dunny & Sav were fantastic with the fans Cunningham ( who was a real leader on and off the pitch) was as grumpy as ****, it must have ruined a good nights drinking for him having all the fans there, He slagged everything about the club but never played a game for Sunderland his time was up and it was everyone elses fault bar his! Brucie god bless him gave me three/four of the best blues watching seasons ever! add to that he brought us straight back up after relegation. Cant think of anything bad about him, and certainly dont blame him for leaving!! Imagine you can remain in your own job without being given a new contract or double your money and get a three year deal elsewhere... Now lets mull that one over.. right tricky decision but I`m just edging towards doubling my dosh KRO |

Yes....if I was making a complete 'balls up' at my current job, then Yes, I would move on for more money.....Obviously Yet it's OK for you to slagg off Cunningham because he was in a bad mood one particular night ....Come on Des, a lot of what KC said was true , some people just cannot accept it He was one of the best centre backs we have ever had at the club (in my lifetime anyway) and he too should have been offered another deal if anyone... I think your being some what harsh here. At the end of the day arent we all selfish to a point. He took a job at Birmingham because he was offered it an yes at the time it was a step up compared to where he was before. There is no shame in this indeed learning management at lower clubs is a good thing. Hopefully you progress win things and eventually manage England which would be the top of any English manager's career. He had been here 8 years he was contacted by other clubs there were ??? over what was happening with Yeung. Bruce decided to take an offer. I dont think he neccesarily wanted ill for BCFC but at the time thought it was best to move on. He had just secured promotion and was obviously not given the assurances that he wanted. I do think Bruce did his level best for the club but suffered after Bowman left. He obviously was no longer comfortable being manager. Maybe he thought he could not progress the club on without investment and got hacked off with the board. At Sunderland he was assured and received money to build a side. Maybe he wanted to have a go at winning things rather than working is backside off to enable a budget Birmingham City to avoid relegation. He had already had this type of experience perhaps he was ambitious. I dont see that you can criticise him to harshly I dont feel he ever behaved badly towards the Blues team or fans. He decided his time had come to an end and it was time for someone else to take over. His remarks had no malice towards BCFC what so ever. He did not have to be complimentary. He could have said nothing. I wish him well in his career but would prefer it if his sides lost when playing Blues. (he can thrash the Vile out of sight though) I cant understand why you hold such a grudge it appears somewhat off track to me. :Blues: |

My ! My ! Now who would have thought you would change your tune so abruptly and suddenly ?? The same poster who incessantly berates Alex McLeish for the 'negative' football and tactics he encourages, particularly throughout the entire season last year (2008/09) Truly amazing stuff on here sometimes :LMAO: |

Parti! I never change positions I supported TF to the death SB and now AMc they have all had their strengths & weaknesses but i loved Brucies boys , they are alongside the holy trinity side of 71 to 75 (Francis Latchford & Hatton) Now Alex has a chance to outshine them both! I also am a massive fan of the old board who are the best business people in football and it was good business on their behalf to take Dave Whelens bucks then replace brucie with Alex. No blame whatsoever on Brucie he did what any pro would do. Supporters forget managers are not fans, SB wage is probably ten times what it was when he got us back into the promised land. Anyone on here match that increase??? anyone one on here would like to...ok dont all rush at once!! KRO |

Whilst I'm not overly keen on his style of football, no-one can deny that this season especially, including the takeover, has been a positive one for Blues. Try & separate facts from fiction, please. Eg; Last season we were horrible to watch - fact. Your posts are informative, humourous & well thought out - fiction. |
