Jimbo, if you remove the top 4 clubs and look at any other club below that they have a good mix of very talented and good players... it's the size and depth of their squad that matters.

Everton are a great example. they've struggled with so many injuries this season that really exposed their squad. now they're back the team's doing great.

at the start of the season who would have wanted Zamora? now he's knocking on the England door... you need a good strong squad and team spirit. i believe we have the latter...

with regard to the 3 players mentioned i think Bent could/should be allowed to go - he's contributed nothing during his time here. O'Connor i think would be a good squad player that we can call on for something different in games we're struggling to win - he's an ability to win the ball and hold it up and has proved he has pace too, although that might be getting away from him now with the injuries he's had. he wouldn't be my first choice but i wouldn't mind him to give the squad depth.

Fahey is a good midfielder who is playing out of position. this is his first season in the Premier League and i think he's doing a credible job. he's the type of player that can be an unsung hero... give him time, keep him in the squad because he works hard for the team and can create chances...

i can't understand why we would want to let squad players go when we have a limited budget and an already small squad!

Excellent summary Penguin.

There will be players leaving in the summer, Bent, Carsley, Queudrue, Tainio and others but we have to keep the bulk of the squad together and add to it.

This is our first season back in the PL and I don't believe there can be any Blues fan who isn't delighted at where we are. We've achieved this with an amazingly small squad and the last thing we need is to be selling our squad players.

I cant see Bent going anywhere, he has a year left on his contract and knowbody is going to be able to afford his wages!!

Yes we do need new players but like others have said we still need the players who have got us to where we are today!!Even if they are just as squad players.

Id personaly would like to keep Benitez but what with his big transfer fee and low goalscoring recored, i cant see it happening.
