I wouldnt say we signed Gardner for his hard tackling.

Wenger was moaning about Ridgewell's tackle on Walcott in the 3-1 defeat at The Emirates back in October

"Excessive force" was his argument

But in all honesty it was one of the best examples of a clean tackle I've seen in years

It's a man's game

What tackle?

I've watched it a few times now, and Gardener goes for a free ball (under neither players control), gets there first, kicks the ball up field, Fabregas who was too slow to the ball, then comes together with CG.

What tackle?

If there was one it was a very late tackle by Fabregas on Gardener after Gardener had released the ball.

It's a very good point there Lewis.

Maybe AMc should raise the lateness of the tackle with the Premier League (I would love to see Whinger's face :D )

No one said it was a dirty tackle or anything, just a hard fair tackle.
The tackle when he goes through him wins the ball and hurts fabregass who hobbles after it for the next 10 mins and never really gets back into the game MOTM highlighted it commenting how quickly we got into them giving no space or time.

Exactly what I was going to post.

And as for Gardner he had his best game for us on Saturday. It looks as though he is progressing and fitting in..........it seems for him the future's bright.

The tackle was hard but fair. Robust was McLeish's view.

Howard Webb didn't give a foul and I thought he refereed the game really well, ignoring Wenger's continual moaning.

Fabregas played on for 90 minutes and if he had really been injured surely he would have come off considreing the Barcelona match on Tuesday. He is now reported as saying he'll be fit for that match.

Typical Wenger looking for any excuse he can find.

As Mcleish said "robust" it was a good hard tackle that was timed spot on and did injure fabregass as well **thumbup Gardner knew he was going to win the ball but also but that little EXTRA in to make sure Fabregass knew he was about, this is what the real mans game is about...bloody hard but fair and Gardner is a perfect example. :banner:

What I don't understand with Wenger is that he is complaining that Fabregas was hurt by that perfectly good tackle and saying that Fabregas might not be fit for Wed and needs scans to assess the damage - if thats the case why was Fabregas not substituted. The tackle happened in the first half and if I am not mistaken Fabregas continued to play for the rest of the game. Surely if you are that concerned about your most influential player being injured you would err on the side of caution and not let him carry on.

My thoughts exactly... Even if Fabregas said he was OK Wenger should have taken him off if there were any doubts over his fitness...
