I'm very impressed that you have all that information. As a matter of interest how far back to your records go? |

Hi Mr Tudor I remember the original played for Newcastle after he left your lot. I was at the 2.2 & the 1.1 in 76 bit of a pitch invasion after the final whistle we had a guy called Gary Emmanual playing for us he was utterly useless Currie spent all the second half taking the piuss out of him nutmegs swerving the ball around one side of him and running around the other! That sort of stuff. That point kept us up a lege ca;lled alan woodward ( what a shot he had) scored yours. Happy days!! p.s late memory the 2.2 draw was the first I attended as a skinhead aged 17! I loved that look first time up! Doc Marts High leg!! short jeans or white levi sta prest red socks & ben sherman shirt with thin braces & harrington!! Only problem was skinheasd girls were generally mingers or ladyblokes!! KRO |

The first recorded set of fixtures is from the 1889-90 seasaon when we, as Small Heath Alliance, were in our first season in the Football Alliance. We finished 10th in Division 1 in that season, with our top scorer being Will Devey who scored 27 goals from 23 matches. We stayed in the Alliance for 3 seasons before joining the Football League Division 2 in the 1892-3 season. Although we finished 1st that season we were not promoted because we had to play a couple of 'Test Matches' against Newton Heath, later to become Manchester United. We drew the first match 1-1 at the Victoria Ground, Stoke on Trent, and lost the second 5-2 at Bramhall Lane, Sheffield. This meant that we missed out on promotion, but we got there the next season, when we finished 2nd. Again, we had to play a 'Test Match', but this time we won, beating Darwen 3-1 at the Victoria Ground, Stoke on Trent. |
