not a shred of quotes in this story but if there is any truth in it then perhaps Pannu and Dunford need to seek a better way to do business with Carson.

as in any business they must be given a budget to work to, that they can sanction. i can understand that any deals outside of this should be referred to Yeung but not everything surely.

as i say, nothing to suggest story is true or otherwise...

There's a lot of family-run companies where all decisions of a certain nature have to be rubber-stamped through the boss. It's several million pounds at a time that we're dealing with after all.

agreed but this isn't a family-run business.
they've bought into Premier League football and the running of the company must be fluid... otherwise it breaks down. if true all i think is that the guys over here should be given a budget and be allowed to make the right commercial decisions on players/contracts etc.
anything above that needs to be ratified by Yeung.
perhaps that's the case here, who knows. it does state that Ridge and Larsson wants greatly improved contracts... and Fergie's only been here a season so perhaps that is how it works, would make more sense.

The time difference with HK is a big issue. No surprise that the new contracts have to be signed off by Yeung but they will need to sort out communications. This is something that Peter Pannu has spoken of before.

I wouldn't take the Mirror story too seriously, the press always have to find an angle to any story. The Mirror seems to be having a Blues week

I'm not really getting this issue with time difference in Hong Kong and Carson being out there.

Surely Mr Yeung has an email address they can send the contract proposals to for him to look at or for any other query that he needs to ratify? Blackberry's, I hear, can be a very useful tool for businesses!

I can believe a delay of 24-48 hours but anything else in this day and age is pretty far fetched. Either Blues are playing for time over the contracts or The Mirror is just making stuff up again

The board and the players unfortunately have the same issue but it hits them in different ways.

The players come to the board and say we deserve better than we are on. We have worked hard been successful kept our heads down against tough oppostion and deserve our success. McLeish the manager must agree
the players have achieved more than what they asked for they have a legitimate right to look for improved terms.

The board say we havent been packing them in week and and week out totally filling the statium so we are limited and we are still in the process of growing the brand. So while we agree you have done well if we spend
all the money available on you guys deserving as you are we wont be able to grow the brand as much getting in other players to help improve the team and help the club and yourselves do even better.

The players say well we arent a charity we every right to expect better. The board agrees with them but the the question is how much can they enable the current team who have done fantastically well to be happy
enough to do the same next year at the same time as bring in new players.

It's all a bit of juggling and some negotiation. At the end of the day Yeung has to be happy with what he is financing or the whole thing falls apart.

I can understand players getting agitated if negitations are extended. They cant make plans for themselves or family or be in the right mind.

At the same time it's Yeung's first time in running a football club. Like most successful business men they are never rushed. They have learned from their mistakes that instant decisions can often be the wrong
one. It's all about finding the right fit and while the players have done remarkably well. They cant and should not hold the board to ransom. They have agreed their salary and are been paid for it.

Renegotiations are exactly what it says on the tin. At the same time in order to maintain a tight and successful club the board must endeavour to maintain the confidence and motivation of their players.

I just hope that the fans return and get on board this potential success story. It all depends on them at the end of the day. If they dont back it - Blues wont be the top club we all want it to be.

The article mentions that certain players are on £12k per week and are looking for £20k, that's around a 65% increase !! If I was Carson and Eck wants the players, I would be inclined to take up the extra 12-month option, probably at the same money.

Much better deal for the club IMO and gets another two issues off the "to-do list"

It's not really a big issue at all. There's a time difference - it's no big deal. It simply requires some coordination. You don't hear this of global / multinational organisations so why does this seem to be a big deal for us?

There's hundreds of engineering companies I know of that buy and sell to the far east, china and japan

The time difference has caused no problems, schedules have been sent on time as have the components been delivered

As PB said at the outset - No Quotes.

Pretty crucial when you consider the source; Sun, Mail,Star or Mirror are the usual culprits.

The component parts of the story are true:-

Ferguson, Bowyer,Ridgewell and Larsson or all up for option or renewal.

Carson Yeung works and lives 90% time in Hong Kong.

Blues have not announced any completetion on any contract negotiation.

Neither really has any Premier club, especially those below us. Still if you need to stick in a knife after a club has upset your outside bets and wet dreams, this - the renewals or not, is about as far as you can go I suppose.

Their chief football correspondent had to come to St Andrews to cover last Saturdays game........he's still getting over our "facilities" and will remain sore until he has completely got over it.

Don't think time difference should be so much of an issue. I mean Carson should be smart enough to have realised when he was interested in the club that this was going to be a factor.

I hope it doesn't alienate the players because they want to play football but obviously need job security as well because they have to pay for things like the rest of us.
