If Man City get Buffon - and won't sell Hart--

Shay Given - 2/3 good years and young Jake Butland can be prepped.

:applause: good shout.

Also the Forest keeper is getting great reviews. Every Forest fan is bricking-it worried a top Prem club will come in for him.

We must get an excellent keeper - retain Hart? get the Cov or Forest keeper? Hart back to Man C and us buy Given? I wouldn't want us to lose Hart and play Doyle.Equally I wouldn't want us to lose Hart and buy a mediocre keeper.

Kirkland at Wigan is the best English keeper - he's just so injury prone though.

What you got against Given ?

We don't need a keeper for 5/7 years if we lose Hart.

We need a keeper for 2/3 years.

That was my point

Didnt know ManCity were considering Buffon. If he is we might stand a chance with Hart but Arsenal might want to replace Aluminia. If West Ham go down we could try for Rob Green if they will sell him to us.

Shay Given would be an excellent replacement too but chances are Man City will want first team football for both.

I think it will suit Hart and Man City to give us another year loan.

Ben Foster.

Fergie said earlier in the Season it's not remotely in his plans to sell him. Despite the fact his England career is wasting away at Man U.

I personally think our best bet is EITHER try and get Hart on loan for another season OR buy Rob Green if/when West Ham get relegated.

I would much prefer to have Hart than Green but there's not a lot that can be done if Citeh won't sell him or loan him for another season {likely if they get into CL}.

As much as I like the sound of Westwood, is it wise to put a keper in the pl that's untested there? I know Dann and Johnson were untested in this league but if they make a mistake there's always other players and the keeper who can attempt to rectify it. If the keeper makes a mistake...

Wish we could get Gordon, he's been immense for the last few games

**thumbup

Right, we agree.

I thought you were questioning the Given suggestion.

No problem.

Butland is our future, and whilst I don't want to put all our eggs in one basket, I think we are 'nous' enough to realise Butland will need replacing in the Academy, with equal promise.

One goes through the next better be as good sort of reasoning.

So, on that basis I would settle for a keeper for 2/3 years. As first choice.
Possibly not Maik and deff not Chris.

Kirkland is what 29/30?
Westwood is 27/28
Given is 34/35

And Gigi Buffon is two years younger than Given, which might be their reasoning at Man City - Let Hart continue "training in the Premier" and let Buffon take over from Given.

Part of me wants an older keeper like Given, rather than Hart because I think Butland and the others like Jervis are the future for blues. And most of me wants Hart-- and sort it out later

Mmm, watched Westwood a few times ( courtesy of having to work for a Cov company). Not sure he would be right for us. He doesn't command his area is prone to making rash judgements, just doesn't look half the keeper Hart is. Maybe Foster on loan if we can't keep Hart, I'm sure McCleish will have it sorted.

Don't forget Hart has improved no end since joining us... I think in Watson we have one of the best goalkeeping coaches around... Even Maik improved once Watson was brought in despite being at the back end of his career...

I think any young keeper with potential will be able to realise that potential working with Watson...

IMO i think that we should concentrate on keeping hart and should be willing to pay whatever for him!!! He has won us at least 10 points this season and this is what you want from a keeper, also he is very young and is one of the best shot-stoppers in england. Also seems to have a good relationship with the back 4 which is also a great bonus!

Yes, good call that. Sure enough the Cov fans in the office do rate him. I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong, and yes Maik did improve in his command of his area and taking of crosses when Watson took over the coaching. Yeah you made some good points there.

I've read that, too. I'm not sure it's such a bad thing when you think how Hart began our season - remember how nervous we all were, then?!

It depends on Maik Taylor. If he's playing well enough to remain one of the 3 keepers then I'd go with Schmiechel and Green/Hart/Foster. I quite like Colin Doyle to be honest.

Hmm !

True but could we match what Arsenal offered ??......there are strong rumours amongst Gooners fans that Almunia's days are numbered

I would be over the moon if we got Joe Hart but if not....Kieran Westwood or Robert Green for sure **thumbup

Boaz Myhill at Hull doesn't look too bad either....Played an absolute blinder the other week......and against us back in September as well
