Good post Gwerty :applause:

The longer A Mc's here the more I like him. He did a fantastic job last year to get us promoted, playing a brand of football that he felt was needed to get the job done, and he was proved right.

The job he's done this year has been unbelievable playing a more attractive game with a great mix of experienced and younger players and looking like its going to give us a top ten finish.

The thing I like most about him though is you just know that these players will not be allowed to rest on their laurels either for the rest of this season or next and that we can all look forward with optimism for the future.

You know I read that and thought just how much the club has changed in a few short months and how easy it is to see why.

You only have to look at where S&G are now and see their self-publicising headlines having a go at the fans and asking them to spend more money on the club. Here we have a board that by and large keeps quiet and gets on with running the club leaving the press talk to the manager. A man who seems totally at ease with life and who is full of confidence.

You ask how good he is....for me he's the best.

P.S. There's a little comment in there that made me smile -there was still the apathy towards the previous owners and the way the club was so Alex was fully aware of the fans attitude and the scare stories about S&G taking him to WH can finally be laifd to rest...I can see no way he'd ever wrok with them again

I know for a fact that Eck and Sullivan in particular, didnt see eye to eye, and then Brady chipped in...it came about following the 'article' in the Sun where Karen made a quip about the amount of players we had...McLeish saw it as detrimental to what we was trying to achieve during the season, and wasnt happy at all...then didnt some stories come out about he'd be sacked if we didnt get back to the Prem? Again something detrimental to the squad and him personally.

He didnt have much problems with Gold, as he did tend to keep out of the limelight really when he was here (making up for lost time now he's at West Ham though)...but Sullivan kept trying to impose himself...the signing of Espinoza shows that. Sullivan brought him to McLeish's attention...McLeish turned it down as he didnt know enough about him to sign him...low and behold, he trots into Wast Hills a few days later....never plays a league game, and as soon as Sullivan is gone, he's released on a free transfer.

Sullivan is a horrible little man, trying to get his own way in an environment in which he should simply leave his managers alone.

The incident after the West Ham vs Wolves match sums him up...all the fans, players, board, and of course management, are all no doubt annoyed and feeling the pain of their crushing 3-1 defeat to Wolves. So what does Sullivan do? Writes an email to all the clubs fans, lambasting the players, whilst having a cheeky pop at the manager Zola...which then of course leads to him questioning his future there. Why couldnt he keep quiet? Because its David Sullivan.

The new board at West Ham want Zola out, im pretty sure of it, but he only signed a new contract at the start of this season, so really, they cant afford to sack him, so its as if they're basically trying to make him walk out so they dont have to pay him off, its petty and quite unreasonable really, but when have they ever stuck to morals in football? They'd sell their own grandmother for some more money for their kids inheritance.

McLeish is top class. But not only this I feel his methods the way he goes about things his style suits Birmingham City I think they are a good fit. McLeish can see the level of football club we are and is wanting to lift us up.

Sully and Co had gone a fair way in making us fiscally sound but they never had the football ambition. The idea of buying an extra player for cover would make Brady chew her arm off.

McLeish has managed Rangers. One if the biggest clubs in the world. If you think it's a small time league go to an Old Firm match at Ibrox. It's as serious as Blues/Villa, ManU/Liverpool or anything else I can assure you.

McLeish can also see mistakes made at Rangers and has to respect that while money is important and you cant achieve ambitions without this. You cant put a club at risk for trophies.

His calm, practical, honest, thorough and mixed with the die hard spirit is exactly what Blues fans have been looking for. As a lower level club the die hard spirit stands us in good stead to compete with bigger clubs while we attempt to grow. His quality of having won European trophies and played in world cups. He can look players in the eye and say yes I have been there and done that too.

His leadership skills to show what Birmingham City need even when he is being lambasted from all quaters. Some of traetment he has received even though successful has been beyond the pale. Yet he remains personable and
forthright.

I hope people realise how good he is he really settles here and we can build this football club.

If we could get a really good song for Alex, I mean a really good one maybe even to challenge KRO, and to be a club song along side KRO, we might help to keep the man with us. He is our greatest hope for conversion of this club into real top honour challengers that we have ever had, well he is in my view.

In honour of Alex McLeish

Birmingham the Brave

Hark when the night is falling
Hear! Hear the pipes are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down thro' the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits of the old Birmingham men.

Actually I wiould mind doing Scotland the brave in his honour either.

Scotland the Brave

Hark when the night is falling
Hear! Hear the pipes are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down thro' the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits of the old HIGHLAND men.

Well said Tony! Rangers v Celtic is THE derby of all derbies ;)

Great article by Big Eck there..should spur you all on to outsing the Scousers tomorrow! ;) A song for Big Eck would be good..can't think of us having one for him either.

Whoops!

Is it on tv then? I had put all thoughts of being able to see it out of my mind as I'll be at Ibrox at 3pm tomorrow when I thought you were playing Liverpool! :o

How about asking McLeish. Maybe he has a favourite song, or could think of something he likes. That would buy him into the whole thing.

Maybe Sarah could help.

I'll wait for some feedback before tackling her though.

“I don’t think it should go unrecognised that the St Andrew’s crowd is playing its part,” he said.

“It was difficult for the players to be motivated last season for the Championship when the fans were like ‘well, you got us relegated, you get us back up; unless you play beautiful silky football and get us back up, we’re not having it’.

How true.

Someone said earlier on that he could be as popular as Barry Fry.

That has to be a joke. :D

Alex in my true opinion is on the way to be a Legend at Blues.

He may not be a Wenger, Ferguson or Bill Shankly at Blues. But he will be a Clough at Blues if you see my point.

We need to keep him, foster him, protect him and adore him. AM is the works !!
