First I've heard about us being linked with this guy

He can't be that bright if he prefers to go to Wet Spam and The Gullivans

It is only more spin from The Daily Mail though

makes you wonder why sully doesn't just take the managers job, if he's buying the players

Sully did it here as well. Why sign a player when you don't have a Manager in place.

Exactly.

And out of their shortlist of 4 to take the West Ham job...three of them wouldnt stand for that, and are pretty vocal characters, in Allardyce, Holloway and Jones.

Grant would probably let them do it and just stick to the coaching side though which is why he no doubt appeals to them.

I really cant see Govou signing for anyone untill after the world cup. Why sign before?
If he has a good world cup he'll then get a bigger club interested in his services.

If he has a good world cup he'll then get a bigger club interested in his services.

Some players (for example Fabregas) like to have their future sorted before the World Cup to ensure their mind is focused on that, and they aren't getting linked to different clubs every day in the paper and having their agent ringing them on a daily basis asking them about other clubs.

I think Govou would be a great siging, as I think we need two wingers ideally, so he would supplement the addition of an N'Zogbia nicely. Also, McLeish said bosmans were something he's looking at as they won't reduce our transfer kitty, so win win really.

Govou and N'Zogbia on the wings would be some improvement on Larsson and Fahey!

You do realise he's only 30 don't you?

Only a year older than Pavlyuchenko, and about 18 months older than Arshavin. Not past it at all IMO.

Noithing in the Daily Mail from Govou, to qualify the statement that West spam are favourites to secure their hope of landing this Frenchy on a free transfer! :copno: Smells like smoke to me! :silence:

It's absolute trash. It said he was flying in to Sunderland a week ago to finalise terms, then it has said he is flying in tomorrow night to west ham, and it says that in the sun.

Absolute trash. I'd say he'd be going to Liverpool or Manure. Would be Great if we had him however.

to add as well,

West Ham can't afford his salary. He want's £30k+ and west ham are getting rid of players over £30k.

West Ham are broke, so i can't see them challenging us with big signings, and chucho wont be going there either- he would only go on loan.

I thought he was quite poor this evening, and offered nothing for France.

He didn't have a good game yesterday, but I don't think that's particularly indicative of his ability seeing as players like Ribery/Gourcuff/Anelka all had pretty poor games.

I wouldn't be surprised if the draw of London adds weight to West Ham in Govou's case. Lots of French players in the area, possibly easier to adapt in case he doesn't click with the cultural differences straight away.
