That is true but he is still considering it.

Another club may come in and offer him a contract with a guarantee he'll play more first team football.

I dont think he would leave as where ever he goes he can't play 90min anymore and I have a feeling this season is Kev's last before he hangs up the boots so fully expect him to stay

Why are people taking anything that 'antoinette' has posted today seriously?

He's simply read something off 'www.football-rumours.co.uk' and posting it, as if its true.

Without doubt Phillips is the best finisher this club will ever have and if he does leave then who can blame him.

the article in full, or not so full to be more precise:

Barnsley are interested in Birmingham striker Kevin Phillips, 36. Derby are also keen.
Birmingham, meanwhile, are preparing an improved bid of £2m for Fulham left-back Paul Konchesky, 29.

West Brom are interested in Roma striker Stefano Okaka who was on loan at Fulham.
Genoa have made a late move for Blackburn midfielder Vince Grella who was bound for Galatasaray.
Rotherham have signed Blackburn striker Marcus Marshall, 20, on a free and Sheffield United are poised to sign Blackburn keeper Mark Bunn, 25.
Rochdale are close to completing a deal for Manchester City striker Jack Redshaw, 19.

hope he signs on for one more year, but at his age you can't blame him to move to the championship and play regular first team games, but he won't go to barnsley, it will be a midland side dosen't want to move this family thats why he chose us.

I hope KP signs up for one more year with an option to do some coaching. Let him share his vast experience as a terrific striker to Cameron and young Jake.

I've just posted the same suggestion on another forum, Boris. Great minds think alike. **thumbup

He's 36 now, but I reckon he's too good to lose and could still be a valuable member of our team, especially if he is given a role in coaching our young forwards from the Reserves and the Academy.

If only some of our forwards had the same eye for a goal as Phillips.

No way will he go to Barnsley,he is in the process of having a new house built so if he goes anywhere(which i hope he dont)it will be in the midlands.

Birmingham's move for Italian striker Fabrizio Miccoli is set to push Kevin Phillips out of the exit door.
Brum are closing in on making Palermo hitman Miccoli, 30, their third big summer signing in a £5million deal.

Miccoli, who bagged 19 goals in Serie A last term, is set to join fellow City new boys Nikola Zigic and Ben Foster.

Miccoli will compete with City strikers Zigic, Cameron Jerome, James McFadden and Garry O'Connor.

But out-of-contract veteran Phillips, 36, is preparing to leave on a Bosman when Miccoli, who is a similar diminutive poacher, arrives.

Brum boss Alex McLeish is a big fan of Phillips and would ideally like to retain him to use him from the bench.

But City officials feel the striker’s £20,000-a-week wages are not justifiable for a squad player.

Birmingham are still in the running to sign Fulham defender Paul Konchesky, 29, for around £2m.

And they haven’t given up on Wigan’s 23-year-old winger Charles N’Zogbia.

Brum have withdrawn their £8m bid for N’Zogbia as Wigan want £10m and now hope the ace will lobby for a move to St Andrews.

Miccoli will compete with City strikers Zigic, Cameron Jerome, James McFadden and Garry O'Connor.

Not forgetting Bent!
That would make 6 strikers without counting Phillips and Jervis!
