Have heard they will be published June 17th

Who do you want first

Surely we are due a home game this time around

I'm going with Everton or Stoke City (home)

We'll get the Vile around early October at SA and then go to their heap in late March

Boxing Day will be an 'away derby' with either Albion or Wolves **thumbup

Last match of the season will be Fulham (away)

I want United at home, its a fact that Utd always get stronger as a team towards the end of the season, and they are not as fluent and coherent at the start, so a home fixture against United would do me.

I hope more than anything that it isnt Man City. Everyone would sing about Joe Hart (And rightfully so), so it wouldnt do anything for Foster's confidence. I want Foster to be comfortable,match-fit and confident before he has to face Joe Hart on the pitch

We had them first game last year though

It is very unusual to get the same team on opening day a second year running

Although it has happened before ?? Amazingly we drew the same team on opening day in 1976, 1977 and 1978.....and guess who they were ???

Manchester United... :LMAO: ...'76 we drew 2-2 away, in '77 they thumped us 4-1 at St Andrews and in '78 we lost 1-0 away .....we even had them again in the 1982/83 season.....lost 3-0 and it was at Old Trafford....yet again :banghead:

I remember that 1-0 defeat in 1978.
It came up on the vidiprinter final score 1-1, then 5 minutes later...CORRECTION....1-0.

It won't be the top three or four, the teams that get promoted seem to get one of them in their first 2 or 3 matches, just look at the times we have been promted:

2002: Arsenal
2007: Chelsea
2009: Man Utd

All away as well.

The release of the complete fixture list for all the clubs in the top flight marks the end of a complex process involving several months of work for representatives of all the parties involved.

The Premier League work alongside the Football League, together with representatives of the Football Association, the Football Supporters' Federation and the Police to create a final schedule, which is acceptable to all.

The original fixture list is compiled by ONE man.
That MAN then meets the "interested parties" - as they call them - and reports back to the FL & Barclays Prem committees/Reps.

Next bit:

Quote:

Fixture questionnaires are also distributed to the 20 Barclays Premiership clubs on which they can make date requests and specify their preferred midweek day and kick-off time.

A variety of requests are made by clubs in the Premier League and Football League, with the compilers asked to meet - on average - over 100 date requests.

Allowing for the police, Euro fixture info and advice including club's responses - that ONE MAN is the person who submits the final fixture list that we all assume is random and honest.

Without any Intertoto or European qualification matches - Chelsea and Man Utd have not had an AWAY opening match in 4 years.

The Top 4 clubs invariably open at Home against newly promoted/and or relegation tipped small clubs.

Great for Blues, Blackpool and Baggie fans - to start away at Man Utd or Chelsea - but in reality by the first two weeks the Top clubs have played 4 matches, got 12 points and the relegation candidates are 12 points adrift.

What kind of season would we have if Arsenal were AWAY to Liverpool, and Chelsea AWAY to Man Utd in the first match?

After 4 matches, perhaps no one would be 12 points adrift. :D

The "manipulated" fixture list is - imo - a benefit too far to the Top 4/5 clubs. It isn't honestly compiled nor honestly random, it isn't fair to the promoted clubs who need adjustment time, easing in time.

We may get a home fixture, because we were mid table, but what's the betting we play Villa second ?

:D

I'm down in Bournemouth from Aug 14th-21st so regrettably i'll have to miss the first home game - that is if they play 3 games in the first week of the season.

For everyone thinking of sunny Blackpool in August, forget it.

They've been granted to play their first 4 games away, to allow for ground redevelopment.
