and if we'd had just signed Rooney and then watched the Eng v USA game you'd have thought, OMG what a pile of pants! You can't judge him in a very poor team.

You’re entitled to your opinion. Your opinion is that of someone who doesn’t know much about football though.
Migster.... Everyone on here has a different opinion about the same subject.... Some positive - some negative!
Just look at the comments about Zigic.... Zigic is who he is.... Does he change? Of course he doesn't.... Does he present himself one way to you and then differently to someone else? Of course not!
However what does change is the individual opinion that each person has about him.... Now if Zigic is the constant and the opinions are all different, that means that the opinions made by the individuals say more about the person making them than it does about Zigic....
So if you read a negative opinion it is from a negative person.... If you read a positive opinion it is from a positive person.... If you read a reasoned opinion it is from a reasoned person....
The opinions on here say NOTHING about Zigic but they say everything about the person making the comment **thumbup

Definately looking promising:

Palermo sporting director Walter Sabatini has said the club will not stand in Fabrizio Miccoli's way amid reports of a €5 million offer from Birmingham City.
Miccoli is being courted by the Premier League side and although the Rosanero seem reluctant to lose him, they have made it clear he can leave if he wants to.
"Our president was very clear about Miccoli, but if he wants to play in the Premier League then we will try to please him, even though we know he is an important part of our squad," Sabatini told Rete Rete 24.
"Palermo know how to manage certain players, but we do not want to stress the will of the player."
On Saturday Zamparini said he was confident of keeping Miccoli. But the striker claimed he wanted to speak with his chief regarding Birmingham.
"It's a normal offer, I will speak to the president about it," he told the press.

It is starting to sound very promising. I thought with all the guys away in South Africa it might go quiet, but they're still working on it so hopefully it can be completed soon.

Just picked this up off The Birmingham Mail Forum by tilton1875:
Spurs fans view from another forum:

Spurs fan in peace..
I'm an avid follower of Italian football (due to my heritage) and the Miccoli links to your club have really intrigued me of late. For those who don't know much about your potential new signing, I can tell you that you'll be pulling off a massive coup, signing an absolute gem who was arguably the best player in Serie A 2009/10, and if paired with Zigic, it could be a scintillating "little-large" partnership and one of the best around.
All Calcio fans are absolutely incensed at Lippi's decision to not select him for this years WC, as he would have provided all the flair and star quality that is severly lacking from our attack, (although it is widely known that Miccoli testified against Lippi in the 2006 match-fixing scandal, probably out of his frustration at his situation at Juve while he was manager and since then has never played for the Azzurri incredibly, so politics is the reason). £4.5mil for a player of his calibre is daylight robbery and I can tell you that it is an absolute steal for someone who really deserved to have fetched Palermo over £10mil, so kudos to McLeish.
Although 30 now, he still is a top, top striker who likes to play just off a targetman (although not quite a number 10) and although only 5"5, he has bags of natural ability; an excellent dribbler with a powerful shot on him, fantastic skill and technique on the ball, and a deadly finisher, and as with all Italian flair players, he has real trickery and that aurora of unpredictability about him.
After a highly promising start to his career at Perugia, a big money move to Juve shortly followed before falling out of favour quickly due to having immense competition in the form of Trezeguet, Del Piero, Ibrahimovic etc (8 goals in 20 odd games over 2 seasons is quite respectable for his predicament) and was loaned out to sides like Fiorentina, where his 12 league goals contributed hugely to their survival in 04/05. At Benfica, he was a fans favourite and Liverpool fans will remember his amazing scorpion kick against them in the CL a couple\3 years ago, not to mention a prolific scoring record. He has finally found his feet at Palermo where his 19 goals have fired them into the CL for the first ever time in their history, and has become the club's top scorer of all time, overtaking Luca Toni, with over 40 goals in 2 seasons there.
Due to his age, he has lost some of his pace he was once known for, and as with many continental flair players, he may appear to not put maximum effort or work rate into his play at times, and although showing real stature and confidence last season, the physical side of Premier League may be a little too much for him, but I'm very positive he will adapt quickly to English football, and he has shown adaptability and determination by moving to Portugal in the past, and seems to have matured as a player at the same rate as his advancing years.. as a fan of both Serie A and the Premier League, I am licking my lips at the prospect of seeing "the Italian Messi" play on our shores!! An undoubted class act.
Sounds good enough to me **thumbup

Im not so sure on this one, a 30 year old short arris who has lost a bit of pace.
do we need another 30 ( just about ) plus player.
zigic is approaching 30, super kev 36
the only youngster is Cameron Jerome, Gary O'conner is 26 ish but isnt playing.
id like to go for a younger player, mid twenties who can learn from the experience of kev and zigic, then maybe we can sell on fro a decent fee cus we wont get anythong for Kev, zigic or Micolli imo

to get one of those roughly triple the amount we're reportedly playing for Miccoli and add on wages and we can get one. 30 isn't that old nowadays with the way players train (Drogba/Anelka both 31/32 ish)
getting older player in that will settle quicker while bringing through our own young strikers/taking risks on players like valles seems a good plan to me.

Miccoli sounds like a player who can take the ball and do something with it, similar to Benitez but with a better attitude. Hopefully we can get him, because then there'd be real cause for optimism next season. If we somehow got N'Zogbia then our team would be looking sensational.

Who would you prefer - Boyd or Miccoli? Because that would seem to have been the original option. Personally, I am glad that Boyd has taken so much time making his mind up :) Miccoli every time imo :ball:

Just picked this up from The Express & Star.... If true then things are really beginning to warm up:
- Quote:
-
Birmingham’s chase for Italian striker Fabrizio Miccoli was given a shock boost today after his club Palermo confirmed they are willing to sell. Blues have already had a £4m bid rejected for the 30-year-old but the Serie A outfit admit they will bow to Miccoli’s wish to leave. Palermo slapped a hands- off warning on the striker earlier this month but now Rosenaro sporting director Walter Sabatini says they will reluctantly sell him. “Our president was very clear about Miccoli, but if he wants to play in the Premier League then we will try to please him, even though we know he is an important part of our squad,” he said. “Palermo know how to manage certain players, but we do not want to stress the will of the player.” Miccoli scored 19 goals as Palermo finished fifth in Serie A last season, just missing out on a Champions League spot. He is keen on Blues and will meet with the Palermo hierarchy to try to force through a move to St Andrew’s. “It’s a normal offer, I will speak to the president about it,” he said. Blues have been tracking Miccoli all season and he is a like-for-like replacement for Christian Benitez. Miccoli fits the bill after an impressive career in Europe since bursting onto the scene at Juventus in 2002. He moved to Fiorentina for £6m before being loaned out to Benfica ahead of joining Palermo in 2007. He has scored 40 goals in 86 league games for Palermo and has been capped 10 times by Italy, scoring twice. Read more: http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2010/0.../#ixzz0qvSWaVUH

Sky Sports report that the Palermo director will talk to Miccoli about our offer:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11694_6207734,00.html
- Quote:
-
Palermo sporting director Walter Sabatini has intimated that Fabrizio Miccoli could be tempted by a move to Birmingham City.
The Premier League club have been linked with an approach for the attacker, although Palermo have stressed he is not for sale.
However, Sabatini has suggested he will speak with Miccoli to determine whether the 30-year-old sees his future at Stadio Renzo Barbera or elsewhere.
He told TGS: "Is Miccoli considering Birmingham's offer? It is normal that a player has some doubts when an offer is received.
"Palermo do not want to sell the player. We will evaluate everything soon.
"Miccoli is essential for us, and it is important that we do not lose him.
"But it is equally important that everyone is happy."
