From the quality of the clip it looks as if it was shot in 1879/80. Hard to actually tell that it is Stans.

It was kind of spooky wasn't it :silence:

I was expecting to see the ghosts of some Edwardian era Gyspies on there

It wasn't until 2 years late i got to go for the first time but i remember alot of that footage.

I can see were i used to stand opposite the halfway line actually just to the right as you look at the pitch. I would of been 2 barriers down with my back to one of them so i did not get crushed.

Great atmosphere and good memories.

Thanks for that video.

You are right about the music....spooky

it was odd to see the clock/scoreboard with Co-op on it; i can only remember it being Ansell's... although i first went to St Andrew's in the late 70's, around this time.

Very sad to see the old Spion Kop empty, full of ghosts, fans who have passed on and maybe never saw the new stands, full of memories for me, can see where I used to stand and season 79/80 was my first full season as a supporter (age 9). Used to stand half way between the clock and halfway line on the "wall" bit in front of the 1st barrier that was the start of the back section of the Kop. No one could stand in front of you that way as there was the gangway in front of you. This was therefore full of kids my age, great way to see the Blues. Problem was, everytime we scored all the kids would jump up and end up in the gangway as there was nothing to grab hold of! I'm sad I can't take my 8 year old onto the terraces. Dad would take me in the seats and when he thought I could handle it I was 'promoted' to the Kop, I felt like a very grown up boy then! Couldn't wait to tell my mates at school.

Its a captivating yet haunting piece of footage to those who attended and witnessed so many sites at this ground in its ugly days and beautiful days.

Great times!..Ok the place was a kip but I had some great times down there!...Watching that I could almost feel our Brummie ancestors reaching out to us..Thanx for putting that up!

I got sent to prison the year before, 3 days off my 18th birthday for fighting V the Villa....Ahhh brought it all back how grim the ground was that did..My long Deceased Dad bailed me out after a few weeks and I never commited a crime since.............

Fighting V the villa isnt a crime mate. I considered it a rites of passage! But I stress that was back in the day!

Know exactly what you mean.

It's never been the same for me since the old Spion Kop and Tilton have gone. The place used to be 1000 times louder what it is now and that was usually with less people in it. I still yearn for the day we got some sort of standing back, though know those days shown on the footage have gone forever.

Also loved the old floodlight pylons too. They used to stand out for miles and always remember the feeling of excitement when seeing them beaming when on the train on the way into brum. Used to get much more of a matchday buzz back then.
