Love You More Than I Can Say....; Carson Loves The Blues!

Some of this has already been reported but it appears that Peter Pannu wants to be clear about any misinterpretation regarding his allegiance to Arsenal and to confirm that CY paid over the odds for Blues because of his love for the Club:

Quote:

PETER Pannu has insisted Blues still plan to be very active in the transfer market.

Pannu has been out to South Africa for the World Cup finals to mingle with some of football’s movers and shakers.

Pannu, Alex McLeish, Carson Yeung and Michael Wiseman were all present at the opening game in Johannesburg, between South Africa and Mexico.

The quartet were pictured together at the Soccer City stadium on Twitter.

Transfer target talk – and probably informal discussions about McLeish’s new contract – were no doubt on the agenda.

Pannu said: “We are pleased with the business we have done so far, but we are all of the view that we haven’t done yet.

“We still need a tricky, fast, cheeky sort of ace striker to support our other players and Nikola Zigic.

“Also, a creative player, a replica of a Barry Ferguson if you like for midfield as well or, alternatively, a fast, flanking player who can cause danger running up and down the wing and provide service for the likes of Zigic.

“Carson is actively involved in discussions with Alex and his staff and we are all working very hard to strengthen the team.”

Palermo’s Fabrizio Miccoli remains very much on Blues’ radar, especially as he is due to hold talks with them about his future.

The sort of dynamic striker to which Pannu referred, Blues are ready to raise their bid for him to £5 million.

Palermo officials have admitted they could not give Miccoli a pay rise to encourage him to stay and that Blues were a temptation. President Maurizio Zamparini said: “Miccoli is guaranteed to remain at Palermo unless he comes to me and says he has received a stratospheric offer he cannot refuse.

“In that case, seeing as we care about him, we could sit around the table and discuss the situation.”

Pannu, meanwhile, has moved to clarify the extent of his allegiance to Arsenal.

At the club’s annual awards dinner, he spoke of his support for the Gunners when he was working in Hong Kong.

“Look, that doesn’t mean to say I don’t love Birmingham City – I do,” he said. “This has been misinterpreted.”

On the night, Pannu’s actual words to the audience at the ICC were: “I am a fanatic Arsenal fan. Well, I was. Not now.

“This (Blues) is an arranged marriage – and I have fallen in love. I am a true Blue Nose – trust me when I say this now.”

And Pannu said many people had got the wrong end of the stick when he spoke about the price Yeung paid for Blues.

In the context of his address, it was to show an example of how much he wanted the club, and how much he adores it.

“We have, in our owner a person who has made it and has come west,” said Pannu.

“He has come to this country, he had the guts to buy the club, and he paid a premium.

“The club is worth £37 million, he paid £81 million for it – because he loves this club.”

You can fall out with you're parents,
you can fall out with you're kids,
you can move house.
you can marry another women,

But one thing that you can't do, is change your support of a football team.

:Blues:

Even one you supported from an armchair across the other side of the world?

There must be millions of armchair TV fans that support Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and LIverpool - across the Far East.

When they get to see Blues as often as those, will you begrudge a change of allegiance from them?

I'd agree that a love of a club you actually go to watch, and get involved with is pretty much a love cast in stone -- but here we are talking about TV fans who never had that opportunity to be at St Andrews or in England to see and smell blues -- big difference imo mate.

totally disagree,
Once you have a team albeit watching in the flesch or from a comfy chair from the other side of the world you just can't change your colours to some other team. :banner:
