ahh yeah, I'm sure he'd love to leave his home country in his twilight years and move over to Birmingham,

incidentally, here's a couple of other players we could look at.

Matthias Sammer,
franz beckenbauer,
Eusébio,
George Best,
lionel richie,
Barry Fry,
Pele,
Gary Neville,
David James,

see? I can make up random ridiculous targets too.

:LMAO:
But he would leave his home country to join West Ham?

Riquelme's agent, Daniel Bolotnikoff, met with Boca Juniors president, Jorge Ameal, on Friday, but they were unable to come to an understanding, and the player is now studying other offers.

Flamengo have already offered Riquelme a two-and-a-half year deal worth €3.8 million (£3.15m), but the player is now believed to be weighing up an offer from West Ham and another Premier League club.

I dont see why Riquelme would be considered as a silly target at all?

It is not strange for a player of Riquelme's stature to want to play his trade in the Prem before he retires.

It would be a fantastic signing for West Ham to be fair.

If i remember rightly when he moved to Boca his agent said something along the lines of "juan is a special player and therefore a team would have to play the way he needs them to"

Don't think his attitude would be right for us.

Hes only 31! I thought he was about 35! Madness..

Hes a brilliant footballer..one problem though. Hes a bottler.

Agree with every word of this http://selfdestructbutton.wordpress.com/20...roman-riquelme/

He only plays so beautifully when everything is 100%. Good Luck West Ham - they will get 4 or 5 outstanding performances for his 100k a week. Several games going missing in local derbies, and several missed penalties and awful performances when the pressure is on before he slinks off somewhere else. Its why, in his prime he should be tormenting the best defences in the world...but he is sloping around in argentinan football.

i think he could be a good signing for them but you have to ask, who's running the show at West Ham? now of course we all know the answer, this is one of Sulky's signings and has nothing to do with Avram Grant. yet (again) the manager will be expected to work with the player and how he fits into the squad.

West Ham already have a midfield play-maker in Parker, who for me is the better option. and proven in the Premier League.

what this does is fly in the face of everything Sulky said when they arrived at West Ham. all the talk about daft signings on silly money and here he goes signing a £100k a week player who is not proven in our top flight and, in fairness, has absolutely nothing to prove at all. if he doesn't do any good at West Ham people are not going to suddenly think he's a bad player. he'll just simply go back to Argentina and see out the remaining years he has in football.

this is all about the egotism of the owners. they tried it here with Vierra and Owen as 2 names being banded about. one it sells season tickets and 2 they want to be seen as giving the fans the biggest name they can, which will then be used to slap down the supporters when things turn sour, which i'm sure they will.

it worked here with Dugarry and they've seen the success of that in the fact that Dugs only played here for a short time but is a cult hero. the biggest mistake they did make though was not exploiting the players image rights more and marketing the Dugarry name... bet you they will with Riquelme.

so i think it could be classed as a silly signing because of that.
