Real supporters will go to Blackpool and enjoy the day whether its sunny or not Lowds...the trouble at Blackpool happened over 20yrs ago ffs
Give it a rest...
Blues have a bad name for hooliganism, still. Blackpool is a top venue for potential hooliganism that is why it was required to be a midweek KO. For some reason it was considered a top potentially explosive venue for those Essex boys as well. Get rid of the hoolies, then get treated properly. It's so simple. You get what you deserve.
Majority of their Lancashire derby games are on a Saturday/Sunday more potential flashpoints there than the visit of Birmingham.. Makes me smile that one incident 20yrs ago is still remembered so fondly Lowds...
You're in a different world B25. Only Blackburn - Burnley changes KOs due to hooliganism. Like Blues, Burnley are still in the dark ages and love a bit of hooliganism.
The other games ie Citeh, United, Liverpool and Everton are moved because of live telivision.
Bloody hell, I get some inside info regarding Blues and West Ham being requested not to play Blackpool at a weekend and you won't believe it. The facts are there today - the Premier League have done it.
Wake up, Blues have a bad name. It's general and nothing to do with an incident 20 years ago,
FFS :banghead:

but i thought that the fixture compilers have a set of rules that require them to keep certain club from playing at home on the same day and also keep certain fixtures..villa v Blues, Man city v Man Utd etc, away from busy weekends, for example back holiday weekends, to stop the people getting tanked up, and it's always been so, hasn't it??

Yep agree...we really need to get off to a solid start otherwise I would hate chasing points in some of these games late.

thats due to the same officers policing both blues games and villa games (and the same happens across the country) hence why certain teams can't play together

Once again Away for the 1st game and Away for the last game, same as last year why can't they mix it up a bit. The 1st and last games of the season if at home can be special occasions for celebration (hopefully). Of course it means the Vile are at home for these prime dates.
In our 7 seasons in the Prem we have only once had a home fixture for game 1 and that was way back in 2003 against Spurs. Stinks if you ask me.

Not entirely true pooley....The Met can cater for all manner of things ie sports events, visiting dignataries, protest marches, fun runs, pop concerts in fact london has so many events as well as normal crime levels to worry about...somehow though WMP cant even cope with a Blues v Vile game on a Saturday..hmm now lets move it to a time that involves a shift crossover and charge the club for the overtime now there's an idea Chief Constable.

Thats the same as other councils though, they can arrange events and our council make a pigs ear of it.
Our police and council dont do 'events' well unfortunaatley and I would include football in that...look at blues villa last season, letting both sets of fans out together

Letting both sets of fans out together was a deliberate ploy... when you consider the previous game at vile park had the berlin wall erected across witton lane.
WMP didnt get what they were looking for as it passed off without incident..other than we simply glared at the bouncing inbreds as they came out and that was enough to shut them up.
There was more trouble at pubs showing the game than at the game itself

there was a bitof trouble after - not massive ammounts granted but there was trouble.
I emailed the police after because I witness quite a bit of trouble myself. Aparantly they said they were going to 'review' their idea of letting both sets of fans out at the same time

Yep, but the draw won't include Blues - we don't enter until Round 3 in January.

First chance to look at the fixtures. I can't remember a time when we had a league fixture on my birthday (May 22nd), I can remember plenty of FA cup finals, Champions league and UEFA cups but never a league fixture.

First chance to look at the fixtures. I can't remember a time when we had a league fixture on my birthday (May 22nd), I can remember plenty of FA cup finals, Champions league and UEFA cups but never a league fixture.
It is very late to finish the season, anyone know why it's so late. We have never played a league game on your birthday TJDIXI, although we have played league games later than May 22nd on 2 occasions 1947 and 1977.
1947 would probably be because of sorting out fixtures and not starting until August 31st after the war years (May 26th v Newport County) 1977 I have no idea why we played QPR so late (May 23rd)

I think we have a good chance to win the first 6 matches (Sunderland, Blackburn, Bolton, Liverpool, West Brom & Wigan).. only one of the big teams we face is Liverpool at home which we can win no problems... 18 points in first 2 months - that will do me ;o)

The Top 4 clubs invariably open at Home against newly promoted/and or relegation tipped small clubs.
Great for Blues, Blackpool and Baggie fans - to start away at Man Utd or Chelsea - but in reality by the first few weeks the Top clubs have played 4 matches, got 12 points and the relegation candidates are 12 points adrift.
What kind of season would we have if Arsenal were AWAY to Liverpool, and Chelsea AWAY to Man Utd in the first match?
After 4 matches, perhaps no one would be 12 points adrift.
I think alf is bang one - and just to prove this forum is read - how about Liverpool v Arsenal for a wild bit of sarcasm?
:LMAO:

We have to get off to a good start in the first 6 matches or else it could turn into a long hard season.
Definitely got to get some match winners in a ensure they are firing on all four cylinders from the off imo.
