from what i've seen in 2 games in a very hit-and-miss Serbia team

Pros

-tough to beat in the air
-very composed on the ball, can dribble, doesn't rush
-looks like he can get the goals (but was unlucky in his WC games IMO)
-holds the ball up well and allows players to join attacks
-not afraid to get stuck in and does his part defensively

Cons

-permanently jogging, blistering runs through the middle just arent his game
-plays too deep
-SOME positioning issues, slow to join in attacks that are ahead of him (kinda linked with the first point really)

Yeah, good stuff TCPH.

For a target man he looked the part. Didn't set the games alight, maybe only Forlan has so far really shined out of the attackers in this cup.

Zigic isnt used to his team mates, give him a few months constant training with blues and hopefully he'll gt used to how they play, and as for rooney he was hyped up far too much and this is the result

tbf there are much bigger names at the world cup who are having a worse time than zigic

also i think that we need to wait to see how he performs with blues b4 we judge him..we dnt want to slate him off b4 he's even kicked a ball for us!

Here's a scenario:
If a Villa supprting mate was watching one of the World Cup matches and thought that Zigic was rubbish, would you agree with him or would you reply to your mate in support of Zigic?

He's hardly done anything of any use to inspire us to think roll-on August. If he was all-inspiring then those ST sales would start moving.

Here's a fact. A number of guys in the pub made the comment (serious and not in spite or in jest) that Blues seemed to have dropped a clanger and got a duffer..........I couldn't offer any defence and shrugged my shoulders.

Exactly.

He's not been phenomenal.
He's not been s*** either.

He's looked a talented player, and looks like he'll be bringing us something different next season (if only just a strong striker, with a good first touch!).

That wont be enough for some people no doubt, who have written him off already...they expect miracles, and hat-tricks every week.

Oh that does surprise me

I was in the pub with some Vile supporting mates for the Serbia vs Germany game, and they said he looked a good player, and he looks the right type that we've needed for a while..

Its all based on opinions this game... I just see youve wrote him off early though.

have said several times now...if you had just seen any england players twice in this world cup , would you rate them highly?

ziggy has at lest set up a goal, come close a couple of times and linked play fairly well....a lot more than some english superstars!

lets see what hes like at blues , sure he will do a good job for us!

Funny thing is, I've only heard positive remarks about him from the TV commentators.

I guess I have selected hearing for the positive, and you errrr.

They all seem in agreement regarding Zigic, and that he is poor. That's BBC,ITV, Radio5Live and TalkSport.

Zigic has currently provided more assists than Rooney, Lampard, Lennon, Ribery, need I go on? Some people are simply never happy.

it appears not.

Yet again in all the world it's just the few dozen on this forum who think Zigic is great. As you say "nothing changes"....the same few dozen who argued for O'Connor and Bent when I have known for years how bad they were.

I've been on this board a short time and you stand out as the most negative poster on here.

If Zigic got a hat-trick in his first game for blues you'd find issue with it.

well just because I support the Blues I am not going to change my ways and defend the indefensable. If he's rubbish then I will say so. Had we signed Pav then I would be in your camp, but we haven't..............and I don't like what I have seen so far.

In the Germany game Alan Shearer said he 'is going to be a handful in the Premier League this season' and remarked on his 'great centre-forward play' for the Serbia goal.

Such compliments rom Alan Shearer I will respect.

from what I have seen of him he reminds me of the sunderland striker Niall Quin, who is now their chairman. He and Phillips used to be superb together....wonder if it can work for the blues!

He probaly needs a small nippy guy to get the best out of him, something we never really achievd with Heskey.

Two games, no goals and hasn't even looked like scoring. That Wayne Rooney fella must be rubbish and that Tevez chappie too, not to mention Kaka and Robinho.

Toilet the lot of them.

The end of the day what we've seen is on the Wold Cup stage, international matches which are subject to the Serbian Managers direction. What has been critiqued as his sluggish play, lack of speed and even lazyness in the opinion of some on the massage board, may just be example of him holding up his supportive play behind the attacking line of the two Serbian wingers (if that was the plan).

Alex will have his own designs for him in our Premier League squad!
