Does anyone think we will resort to hoofing balls into the box all the time now we have signed Zigic? Or will we mix it up and still play on the deck at times?

Funny thing is, I've only heard positive remarks about him from the TV commentators.

which ones?

They all seem in agreement regarding Zigic, and that he is poor. That's BBC,ITV, Radio5Live and TalkSport.

What are you listening to? Radio PartisanBCFC ?

Can't remember which side it was now.
but the general concenses was a good buy.

But still, if your hearing bad things thats fine atleast it gives you ammo for your 'love' of all things royal blue

well just because I support the Blues I am not going to change my ways and defend the indefensable. If he's rubbish then I will say so. Had we signed Pav then I would be in your camp, but we haven't..............and I don't like what I have seen so far.

Thats fair enugh lowds, I respect your views as you know.

I'm really looking forward to that day when you say something positive about the blue's, in fact I'll probably colapse with shock

Don't worry Lowdham will ensure your health is ok :)

As far as Zigic is concerned, it seems amazing that people can judge him on two performances in the World Cup. As others have said, if people made the same judgement on other players IF they hadn't seen them play before, e.g. Rooney, Lampard etc., it would lead to those players being called useless and why would anyone want to sign them!

We all, as Blues supporters, need to reserve judgement on Zigic until at least half way into the new season. He will be playing in a new team, in a foreign country with a different style of play (English football is different style to any other country), so will, without doubt, need time to adapt and settle.

We need to get totally behind Zigic, and all new and existing players, to help enable them to settle and perform to their full potential. I'm sure that some players, and perhaps new players in particular, read internet news and message boards, to get a feel of what's happening at their new club.

If we want to upset a players confidence, then ridiculing our own players is the best way to do that, but I believe most supporters would like to help build confidence.

To be negative about a new player before even having seen him play in a Blues shirt after being in training with his new team, and playing in a settled side, just seems amazing :(

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing Zigic play and will support him, even if he finds it difficult to adapt initially. He may settle straight away **thumbup But what are people expecting for £4m (He cost £4m + £2m add ons depending on performance, position in table etc)? If people had never seen Rooney nor Zigic before the World Cup, who would they prefer - Zigic at £6m or Rooney at £60m?

:LMAO: you're such a one Blubel.
If we sign N'Zogbia then we'd better call the paramedics for Raters. McGeady? well Raters will be healthy as anything.

As for Zigic and one's ability to form an opinion from 2 games (although 4 for some of us who watched his 2 pre WC friendlies) - just how many times did McLeish see him? I would have thought less than 2 given that he never plays for Valencia. When he was at Racing McLeish managed Scotland so I doubt he watched him then, although that was 4 years ago anyway and things change. Look at Forsell- great in 2004 and not so good in 2008.

somebody not upto date with his facts are they lowdham he played 19 times for racing last season scoring 13 goals [/QUOTE]
Zigic was not on loan to Racing last season ie 2009/10.

He had his top spell when a Racing palyer in 2006. He went back on loan in the Jan window of 2009 for a couple of months.

I've got to say, you need to put his performance into perspective. He is playing against national teams in the World Cup. He created the goal that beat Germany who the game before beat Australia 4-0!

When he comes to the likes of Blackpool and Wolves in the prem I'm sure his experience, style and attacking play will show to no ends.

Have faith.

Here's a scenario:
If a Villa supprting mate was watching one of the World Cup matches and thought that Zigic was rubbish, would you agree with him or would you reply to your mate in support of Zigic?

Maybe turn to your vile mates and ask them what the wonderful vile players have done at this tournament.

I am not saying Zigic has been great so far this world cup, thought he played a lot better second game against the Germans, but I will wait to make my opinion of him once he has a blues shirt on. To judge somebody after two games is pathetic, wait till he is playing week in week out before we make judgments. Yeah you can say he has had a poor world cup but that does not mean he will be poor for blues, let’s give him a few games in a blue shirt with the fans behind him before people turn on him!

I may be missing the point here (I'm not, I'm just saying that to try not to be confrontational) but McLeish said for a lot of last season, and coming into the close season, that he wanted a forward to hold the ball up. He commented many times last season about the ball not "sticking" up top.
Zigic has been brought in to hold the ball up and allow us to play a bit further up the pitch. I am absolutely positive that he has not been earmarked by McLeish as the man to score a hatful of goals for us. That's why he was after someone like Miccoli.

From what I've seen so far of him, he looks like he's going to fit the role that McLeish seems to have in mind for him very well.

Let's not be rash.

For me, he is bearing the hallmarks of weariness: he occasionally seems to be a bit behind the play and his touch seems inconsistent. I don't know why he would be weary, but there you go.

Lovely through ball for Krasic in the first half though.

Oh yeah, because 3 games is a fair amount of time to judge him eh.

Show anyone England's games and ask them who our best player is, and nobody would get the right answer and say Rooney would they.

Give the guy a chance in our team maybe? Or just jump to conclusions as usual.

I'd rather have Pav.......and tbh if you want to go around comparing him to England's players, I'd rather have Emile Heskey.

Comparing the poor Zigic to England's players' poor performances will not make Zigic any better. If he's a duffer then he's a duffer no matter how anybody else plays.

Just a season prior to last he managed 19 matches, 13 goals, playing for an average side in one of the worlds best leagues. Duffer? VERY debatable. I love Emile, but he's never done anything close to that. So Zigic didn't set South Africa alight, it happens. You obviously know and/or have seen very little of Zigic and have made your unchangeable assessment (a bit predictable, but fair enough), and I wouldn't for one minute waste my time in trying to convince you otherwise. In truth, for some reason I find it strangely comforting to know that posts like the one you've just delivered will always be a simple click or two away on this forum.

And i also have the strange feeling that had Blues indeed signed Pav in January you'd have been complaining that it wasn't Babel, Kuranyi, or Jones instead.
