Apparently O'Connor according to this article is not signing the revised contract based on his injury record whilst at Blues.

Personally I can't wait to see the back of this player, think he was overpriced and apart from a short run at the start of the Championship season before injury, I think he is lazy. Lets get someone in to replace him that has some heart and not brown paper for legs.

Its a shame that O'Connor has been unlucky with injuries..

We just havent seen the best of him!!

He's a good striker when fit.

Do a decent job for a league one team, or up in Scotland, but that's about his standard :break:

People have short memories and seem to forget the 5 goals in 3 games in the last chamionship season which allowed the team last season to have the season they had.

If he has not scored those we may not have been promoted and then last season might have been spent in the ccc...just a bit of food for thought

he wouldn't have been a big feature next season so i suppose its not a big loss for the future....

Just means we have to get in another free transfer or cheap striker as back up.

Hi Pooley,

Nope don't forget those goals, although that was what I meant by "apart from a short run at the start of the Championship season before injury" in my opening post.

But you can't keep a guy on the wage bill based on a few goals, how many more average players over the years have scored the odd important goal, thats no reason to keep paying him the kind of salary he's on.

I will try to make myself clearer next time ;)

**thumbup

When fully fit he was a decent player and did score some vital goals.

His problem has always been a lack of fitness. He arrived half fit from Moscow. Next season he started really well, after training throughout the summer to regain fitness, and looked really good until sadly getting injured again. Last season he didn't look fit from the start (looked put weight on in summer?) but scored vital goal at Hull to get first away win of the season (with a great header), but again injury struck and out for rest of season.

At his best he has probably been our best finisher after Phillips, but his best and his fitness just hasn't been there often enough.

O'Connor should have quickly signed the offered contract, albeit on vastly reduced terms (like Parnaby), but, like so many players nowadays, his agent prevaricated and has done him a disservice.

Out of O'Connor or Bent, I know which one I would choose, but unfortunately Bent's lucrative contract is still running unlike O'Connor whose contract had run out with the extension option not being taken up.

Or maybe it could be why we're being linked with Bobby Zamora again.

If O'Connor goes Ziggy will be the only genuine "target man" in the squad. O'Connor is also the only forward we have with the ability to hold up the ball!!

Our poor goal-scoring record of the last 3 seasons tells me we need goalscorers. Screw the target-man O,Connor holding up the ball lets get some goalscorers

...And the paying public want goalscorers not overweight targetmen holding up the ball. The ST sales thread states 7,500 ST sales - no wonder.
