Not the season I'm talking about - it was in August - that's why I could go. |

To be honest I didnt even take into consideration how many we took, I just quoted it straight from the OP assuming he knew what he was talking about **thumbup But Stoke was one of the away games that I missed last season so I werent sure, but if it was a low attendance, it does back up one of my original points, low attendance due to fear of violence. I do remember the allocation beign affected due to the threats from Stokeys saying they were gonna rush the train stations to jump the City fans as they arrived. |

Was going to go to that but i'm hoping the ground to be as empty as possible to let the players and manager know how much they let us down! |

Quite a lot of my friends have stopped going every week and have also given up season tickets since the last relegation. I think people are waiting to see whether Carson delivers on his promises and bring premiership stability. For me london to sunderland is too much of a jog when financially things are tight but I do accept if we fail to take up our full allocation it would and should be seen as pittyful. As noted by someone above it's the first match of the season and with approx 23,000 fans for home matches we should be able to muster 1,000 plus for away matches. |

Same ere. Hope the fans vote with their feet. To top it off, what a stupid time to play an meaningless international anyway, just before the season kicks off. Waht planet are these clowns on? Show the FA Money-grabbing wembley idiots how the rest of the country feels about it, and hit them the only way they'll understand - by showing empty seats. |

Are things only "financially tight" for you? It's an 8.00am start if you go from St Andrews, it's over £60 via rail travel. Everyone feels cautious now about spending too much, not just you. Tell you one thing, if this opener was at Stoke or the Hawthorns, we would never have enough tickets. It is no reflection on the fans mate, we're all the same. You are not the only one who considers things "financially tight". So, don't make excuses just for yourself. Everyone is in the same boat. |

Your right things are tight for all of us. This is going to be a strange season for a lot of clubs as people lose their jobs. I am in and out of work at mo done 3 days this week nothing last week. So how can you justify spending over £100 on a day out. |

**thumbup I know mate. It was just that I thought you were knocking fans by saying it could be pitiful if we didn't take up our allocation and so on. **thumbup |

I was to a degree because in the 80's when I left school we came out to no jobs but we still followed blues all over the country. I use to hang out with the streamers that use to cane all the fruit machines on our away missions so that helped. Football is also a lot more expensive than it was then however I don't consider 1,000 people from brum to be over expectant. If Sunderland was coming to us they would take the full allocation and they are no better off than folks in brum. |

Perhaps. But with the sentiments I've read about Bruce and his abilities from Sunderland fans - I'm not so sure. A fair few of them are expecting a management change, and they may not have flooded to St Andrews to see his latest defender signings. :D In the 80s I knew young fella's that used the Daz free rail tickets to travel around. No point robbing when you got rail tickets free via your Mums. :D As I thought we'd agreed, it's costs not lack of interest. If the club laid on free travel, you would still have people unable to afford such a day out. I know it's not huge, but it's possibly a third or a quarter at least of a person on benefits weekly income. Our support will show up at affordable games. Same as Man City's or Wolves' |

Let me tell you what I think is going on: I don't WHY this is, maybe it's because of recession/money worries, maybe it's because people work too hard in the week, maybe it's because mobile phones and e-mail have made it easier to contact people and give them excuses...... ......but no matter WHAT it is; watching football, playing football, meeting for a drink, attending family get-togethers like weddings/christenings etc and much more..... .....I find the vast majority of people today are SO unwilling to commit themselves to things, like loyalty has gone out th' window. Honestly, very few people can be relied on for anything nowadays, people not only don't commit to things but even if they do, their word means nothing and they pull out. How this would work for an away football match, no wait, better yet a HOME match is as follows: Tickets go on sale for our opening home game against Blackburn.......Mr X doesn't want to spend his money right away as who knows, maybe he won't want to go at the time.........the week before the game his mates ask him to go.......he says yes...........but then on the day of the game, he's knackered from the week at work and can't be 'anused' to get up, go to St Andrews and spend money and time...........end result is that he'll call up his mates with some cock-and-bull story as to why he can't make it. Away games will be worse because it takes more effort. Honestly, maybe I'm giving this too much thought but I feel that football attendances show one part of a national psyche nowadays, where no-one wants to go that extra mile for anything that they don't completely want to do. Supporting Birmingham City can be a bit of an effort at times, and nowadays, like in other areas of life, people just aren't willing to bother unless it's completely and utterly 100% convenient for them. |

I think this & streaming is one of the reasons why, plus the whole football first thing on sky. Befrore, after a blues game, home or away, all you had was a quick replay of the goals saturday night on the news, the sports argus newspaper and then a quick replay of the goals monday tea time on the news. Now you can: Watch the game live - granted questionable quality but it is (a) free and (B) in your own home on an illegal stream, then see 45mins of extended highlights a couple of hours later on sky, while keeping up with what people at home/the game think by the net and mobile phones. The above is not mentioned much when it comes to dwindling attendances (people focus on the money aspect) but this aspect is just as much an influence - not to mention people watching an illegal stream at home or pub can watch the game while having a beer with mates which you cant do at the ground Im not condoning any of the above actions - if anything the opposite, I think it needs to be condemned because it is ruining the live game. |

The answer is simple really,we haven't got a very big fan base.We used to but those days have gone.14 thousand season ticket sales an average overall attendance record last season,we are not a big club we are the 4th best supported club in the west midlands.Get over it and get on with it there are fewer of us than wolves villa and west brom it means we all have to make twice as much noise to make ourselves heard.Sadly the majority cant even do that. :Blues: |

Season Ticket sales are slumping everywhere. You may see the weird situation that Blues and the promoted clubs are the only ones to show an increase in STs this year - in the Prem. :) |

not going to for 1 of many reasons... Recently changed companies & have to work the majority of saturdays now. Have recently come back from south africa which cost around 3k & i am still awaiting a £600 refund from fifa for the tickets i paid for that england never qualified for. Also going to the england game next weds which is a £120 at least for the day out. £20 ticket £100 beer money. (BTW if any blues are going to the england game we have our usual coach running. Pick ups are the dome in town, black horse in northfield & the malbrook in bromsgrove. Can have a tot on the coach too & straight to a boozer in london..... Plenty of space to if you fancy it, drop me a pm) Sunderland is miles away, been there before & i dont think i have ever seen us win up there. (final nail in the coffin) |

What a lot of people are also not aware of is us poor Blues exiles dotted around the country, who for whatever reason cannot go to all games. I am in the North west supporters club and of course there are many premier sides in our area, so I and a lot of others in the club has the opportunity to attend at least half of the seasons away games. Other commitments over the weekend means I cannot be a season ticket holder, and never have been as I have not lived in Brum since 1965, and relied on my tickets through the suporters club and the away club travel which has now been scrapped and therefore I and many others cannot get tickets until open sale which means you are fragmented around the ground on match day. This has been taken up with the club but it didn't help. So not only have they lost 3000 x £52.50 for the away club now it will probably mean even less support away beacuse every game you are likely to get the dross seats either in the corners or right next to the home fans and not sat with other supporters from your area who are season ticket holders and get theirs earlier. Yet another own goal!!!!! "no" |
