If this is it and we do not sign anymore players before the window closes how do you think we will do?

i agree, don't think we'll have the kind of season we had last year as some teams will set their stalls out having worked us out.

As much as I think this post is bait to get people biting at each other, ill still answer.

With the current squad, I think we would finish 12th-14th.

The thing is, no team can afford to stand still in a division, and expect the same success the following season.

To even stay at the same level, you need to strengthen season upon season... so thats why I put us 12th-16th.

Our squad now is better than a fair amount of teams from the bottom of the league.

With three or four more, we can try for the top 10 again, although I wouldnt expect that...10th-12th would be a good season

I wonder if any of the current squad will go before the window closes.

Seems we have only spend the money we accrued for coming 9th, no more. < <

I think the squad is good enough to stay up with ease looking at the other teams in the prem this yera but 9th would be hard to match.

and this is my issue, we have the money (allegedly < < ) so why not spend some and push for a Europe place

I was saying how I felt, if you cant do that on a forum then where can you do it?

And I still answered your question anyway, so if you felt that little of my post you could of just ignored it mate.

the money is there. 8mill n'zog and zamora, 2mill konchesky, 1mill clyne, 4mill miccoli. its just those bids dont match their teams valuations or we backed out because of injury concerns (miccoli) and quite wisely mcleish dont want to pay over the odds for players. its not just us who havent bought, the market has slowed down anyway.

The current squad and the experience of last season will be enough to keep us safe. I do concur with most that we will not be in the top half tho.

My fear is another nerve jangling last few weeks of the season......wasn't it nice and relaxing last season?

Survive

But with a struggle

I think we will find it harder this year

We need two or three more IMO just to stay at the same level

I think we should make 14-15th but I think there will be 9 points between us and relegation. So it will be touch and go all season. With the market relatively quiet all around I hoping that the board and management would be able to steal a march on our rivals.

If we dont it's going to be squeaky bum time till May.

I posted this in the transfer threads, but I suppose it could gooo 'ere as well.

Quote:

Arsenal = 4 in (2 Free £18million) - 12 out
Villa = 0 - 6 out
Blues = 3 in (1 Free £12m) - 8 out

Blackburn = 1 in (Undisclosed)- 6 out
Blackpool = 1 in (Free) - 7 out
Bolton = 2 in (Both Frees) - 1 out
Chelsea = 3 in (£7.7m) - 7 out

Everton = 4 in (£1.4 m 2 Frees)- 1 out
Fulham = 2 in (Both Free)- 6 out
Liverpool = 4 in (£3.7m 2 free) - 8 out

Man City = 6 in (£79.25m) - 14 out
Man Utd = 3 in (£16m) - 6 out
Newcastle = 3 in (£1.5m 2 Frees)- 7 out

Stoke = 1 in (Undisclosed)- 6 out
Sunderland = 5 in (£5m 2 loans)- 5 out
Tottenham = 1 in (£5m)- 3 out

WBA = 3 in (£0.8m 2 Frees) - 6 out
West Ham = 3 in (£5m 1 Free) - 4 out
Wigan = 4 in (£6.5m 1 Free + Loan) - 4 out
Wolves = 6 in (£14.5m Loan) - 7 out

7 clubs have done less business than us - so far.In terms of players in.

15 clubs have spent less than us so far.

Everton and Man Utd have both suggested that they will not spend any more nor bring in any more players.

A few managers are expecting the final 10 days to be hectic, as both clubs and agents push it to the limit.
Either pay over the odds now or get the player at the proper price later.

our current squad quality wise is ok but it is thin on numbers we need 2-3 players just to add to a decent team

We have quality in every area of our team, the only thing we lack is pace in the wide areas, and a nippy striker. We are very strong though in the centre of midfield I think , I would go as far as saying its top 6-8 standard
