If Spurs had not increased the fee for Pavlyuchenko, 24 hours before the January window closed - he would have been a Blues' player.

Plus a bid for Bibble...erm Babel at 8m, and bids for the Zog. You wouldn't be placing 8-10m bids for players if you wasn't ready to part with the funds.

Its all very dead at the minute, not just at Blues but most clubs.

listen for yourself 2min 10 seconds then come back and tell me the media dont exaggerate things people say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j4_92N8WDI and yes it was the only press conference he as given ref the money available

Hootie i'm not disputing that what you've said is right all i'm saying is that the Times are quoting him as something different, perhaps a different interview to the link you've provided?

the papers might cook up stuff but not usually misquoting...

anyway this isn't my argument. i'm not convinced we've the money to spend and until we do i will remain unconvinced. that doesn't mean that i don't think they're doing a good job!

If Spurs had not increased the fee for Pavlyuchenko, 24 hours before the January window closed - he would have been a Blues' player.

He'd agreed the switch, wages and everything, but Levy believing we had loads of money tried to pull a fast one and increase the fee on the Saturday. The Window closed on the Monday. One working day to find and justify an extra £3million plus.
Pannu and McLeish said no.

If that deal had gone through, Blues' spending would have been about £25+ million with wages and fees to agents and clubs.

Hardly any money has been spent so far by any club (except Man City).
The vast majority of players coming into clubs are free or loaned.

Things are changing and I'm not sure that people are appreciating it.

All of us fans, the manager, the players, we all know we need a few more players that will enhance the squad, not just fill up the numbers.

The selling clubs know this. It would be financial incompetence to pay £10million for a player now, when that selling club will snap your hand off for £8.5 million in 10 days.

Still 2 weeks of transfer window and 2 weeks until the start of the season. I thinkill hold my thoughts until then. But remember we are not a Manchester city. I bet the wages and transfer fees involved add up to 20 million odd. Birmingham city are a working progress under the new regime it's not going to happen over the 2 seasons well as it stands right now 1 season we have had back in the premiership. Some people need a reality check sometimes.

And as for what you see In the press. It's been a very quiet pre season transfer wise apart from man city so they are scratching there heads and making up stories left right and centre.

all they did was what a lot of supporters did and forget the bottom figure and just concentrate on the 40mill

To be fair that was absolutely poor from Yeung confirming the amount, and then just confusing the fans as everyone felt he meant in money to spend! Red herring em thinks

ChrissyBCFC -

Who mentioned getting in Portsmouth's state or McLeish getting sacked....cut your jibba jabba and read the post properly.

The post is about money to spend to strength the team as promised by Carson Yeung. McLeish and Johnson have said in the press we need more players so does that make them pessimists does it?

If any club manager and their players say they need to improve the team, what will any fans all over the UK do if their team then struggles?

Doh.

why is it poor from Yeung...have you just spent £81 million buying the club...or £15 million just 2 years before that for a couple of seats in the Kop

ffs he was excited having secured the club and ran off at the mouth a little as a result..

give the man a break
