The transfer season is remarkably quiet and as such the press are getting a little bored.............so they look for stories and gossip.
McLeish ain't signed his contract yet, ooh theres a story they can expand on and create some inuendos. I have seen him on SSN being interviewed and they asked those questions - not signed?, rift? no transfers support? Well McLeish answered with a straight bat. I don't think there is anything amiss or anything to worry about. He'll sign.
Lack of transfers. No ambition? no money? no support from the board? Well the press can come that one, they ain't got anything else to talk about. The market is so slow due to the world cup, less money and waithing for those with money to make their moves. Once Man City start offloading it will start. McLeish stated on SSN that he needs 2 more additions - he'll get them eventually.
Now on SSN they have a side bar showing each clubs transfer activity - very little. In the first six (alphabetically) I think Villa, Blackburn and Blackpool have no transfers in yet. We've got three.I stopped looking after 6 (adverts).
Stop worring but more importantly stop getting suckered into the press' looking for a story just because they haven't got many real stories. Also there is just too much football media these days - it's obvious a lot of cr+p will come out of them.

Hey I,m not saying I want McLeish to sign etc I am just trying to point out to my fellow bluenoses that the football media is so large and widespread there is a) not enough real stories to go round and b ) the quality of football media has been severely watered down and c) the slow transfer market. The result, all this cr+p about us.
Don't worry yourselves...........it's me that should be worried, McLeish is staying.

Good post Mr L. I think the fact were also linked with anyone that appeared in a Panini sticker book over 10 years ago only reinforces your point.
I mean Camoranesi, Hleb & Riquelme:blink: It seems that because we have a few in the twilight of their career's the press believe we want to open a nursing home :banghead:
I will be honest though and say that the more i hear the phrase "Put up or shut up" aimed towards our owners the more i am inclined to agree. The inclusion of a players total wages earned during the life of his contract factored into the total player spend doesn't fill with me with confidence either.

From another thread a couple of days ago - bears out your comments.

Arsenal = 4 in (2 Free £18million) - 12 out Villa = 0 - 6 out Blues = 3 in (1 Free £12m) - 8 out
Blackburn = 1 in (Undisclosed)- 6 out Blackpool = 1 in (Free) - 7 out Bolton = 2 in (Both Frees) - 1 out Chelsea = 3 in (£7.7m) - 7 out
Everton = 4 in (£1.4 m 2 Frees)- 1 out Fulham = 2 in (Both Free)- 6 out Liverpool = 4 in (£3.7m 2 free) - 8 out
Man City = 6 in (£79.25m) - 14 out Man Utd = 3 in (£16m) - 6 out Newcastle = 3 in (£1.5m 2 Frees)- 7 out
Stoke = 1 in (Undisclosed)- 6 out Sunderland = 5 in (£5m 2 loans)- 5 out Tottenham = 1 in (£5m)- 3 out
WBA = 3 in (£0.8m 2 Frees) - 6 out West Ham = 3 in (£5m 1 Free) - 4 out Wigan = 4 in (£6.5m 1 Free + Loan) - 4 out Wolves = 6 in (£14.5m Loan) - 7 out
7 clubs have done less business than us - so far.In terms of players in.
15 clubs have spent less than us so far.
Everton and Man Utd have both suggested that they will not spend any more nor bring in any more players.
A few managers are expecting the final 10 days to be hectic, as both clubs and agents push it to the limit. Either pay over the odds now or get the player at the proper price later.

When CY made his original 20-40m statement at his initial press conference he clarified the same day that it was for fees and wages combined.
Some fans 'choose' to ignore this and expect us to spend millions in fees alone !

I'm not sure it was when he made his initial comments. That was a grey area for a while, and in any case it's a bit misleading. The fact people are still talking about it now is testament to its' vagueness.

It's not vague it states perfectly what the money will be used for.
What is vague however is how much they are going to spend on a perticular player, are we going for players in the region of 5mill then maybe we will buy about 3/4 players but we have been offering around 8/10 mill for players so I would imagin we will only buy 2/3 players.
I personally don't want to here how much money we have to spend on players whether they tell it includes wages or not.
All it does is cause confusion amongst supporters who have selective Reading/hearing and all makes clubs want more for their player like in pav and babel.

Furthermore I bet there will be no media coverage of our club's new catering policy, new refurbished concourses and showing Sky games.
A headline "Carson Yeung Putting Right Sullivan's Mistakes"
Don't bother looking, there won't be a mention. There's nothing amiss with our new owners.

Was that a positive post by Lowds?????
Don't get carried away
Just wait and see him rant again after our first home 0-0 draw
:whistle: :whistle:
Back to topic though we might well see Dembele and even Grosso or Cameronesi (one or both) sign this week but I still expect Blues will do some business during the last week of August when clubs stop being silly and start offloading unhappy or 'want away' players for more reasonable transfer fees

Wait...I think I'm seeing things, going crazy or all the above.
Was that a positive post by Lowds?????
Don't get carried away Just wait and see him rant again after our first home 0-0 draw :whistle: :whistle: Back to topic though we might well see Dembele and even Grosso or Cameronesi (one or both) sign this week but I still expect Blues will do some business during the last week of August when clubs stop being silly and start offloading unhappy or 'want away' players for more reasonable transfer fees **thumbup
I just dont understand why clubs do it though, I mean if that is the case then they leave themselves with no time to replace the player they have just lost using the money they have just made.

Good point but the last week of the transfer window , even the last day in most seasons (for some bizarre reason) in both August and January is always the busiest
