Average, lost out in a few 50/50 tackles and a few mistplaced passes but generally looked ok on the ball. I fancy him to do well for us this season.

I get a bit cynical about 'fahey doubters' as a few are people who dont seem to remember or seem to have seen what he did season before last like when he had a blinder v forest at home, his goal against reading...

With better players around him he WILL be better.

His football brain is beter than some of the others

The problem is we're so over subscribed in centre mid.

bowyer, fergie, michel, fahey, mutch, gardner, Vallès, sammons...8 players who are part for the first team squad for what is 2 places with a sub for the average game...

he has played right but prefers centre and that is where he played a couple of times for hereford and donny last season, also played centre for the under 17s

I wonder if Phillips' injury will see us step up our search for another striker.

to be fair I only know cos he told me! lol

To be fair most people probably think fahey is a winger as mcleish has played him there so much, back for st pats I think he always played centre? I know a lot of irish lads are on here so some can probably confirm this.

If you havent already I'd recomend having a look at some of his st pats set pieces and blasters as he scored some right cracking goals that irrespective of the quality of the league theyre in (which I cant comment on not having watched LOI games) deserve credit.

We have had a problem for a long time now with wingers and we played very narrow for a long time. Oh for someone like laz down the wing

Got to say impressed by Valles today. Linked up well and showed quality on the ball, looks like a real bargain!

Correct and right.

Keitho is, and always was a central midfielder. Since he's been at Blues is the only time (afaik) he's played wide.

He won the LOI Player of the Year award playing in the middle just before AM signed him.

As stated above, his set pieces and long range strikes from the middle of the park were outrageous at times. I'm a Shels fan, but it'll be a long day before I forget the 40 yarder he smashed in against Bohs from open play for Saint Pats live on tv. I'm sure it's on YouTube, well worth a look.

if you ask me, the fact that he's even in the shake up as a winger at Prem level is little short of a miracle, and is a huge testament to the lad's character.

Does this defeat mean our unbeaten Home record is gone now? Because it's a friendly I think we should pretend it never happened.

:Blues: The one thing today that was really striking is the link up between defence and midfield is really strong but the midfield to attack link is virtually non existent. We need a midfielder that can create that link but a the moment I don't see it.

I thought the long awaited Jerome - Zigic combo was interesting, things did liven up from that point it is a shame Jerome went off.

Yes we need more players striker and a creative midfielder or two.

Poor performance?

I was pleased with what I saw today... very tidy and nice football from us... built up sharpness, on and off the ball... looked solid defensively, tidy in midfield, and lively in attack... just lack goals :(

Same old problems for me,when breaking out we were static and either isolated jerome or went backwards.
Mcfadden and Fahey both have skill but do not get involved enough they both drift out of games to easily and both lack the pace needed at this level.
It is vital that we sign a winger with pace,a striker with pace,a rightback and a leftback if not i fear it will be a long hard season for us.
There was however a few good points to come out of today's game Foster looked quite good,Ridge looked sound at leftback and the two Spanish guys look like they've got something to offer.

Although if you had of been you'd have seen us play well apart from a poor piece of defending. Also the goal was against the run of play.
We were, for most of the game, the better team. Loads of chances including hitting the bar.

And dare i say it? plenty of passing moves, not all came off, but it was good to watch

Just because I was not there does not mean I did not watch the game < <

We were the better team ..Thought both teams were pretty poor tbh..

Nothing has changed, cant score goals as usual..

They finished 5t hin La Liga last year.
They are no mugs.
Apart from the goal they didn't trouble us in the 2nd half.
A good run out IMO.
