Says it all not one club (even West Spam) have gone after him!

what a strange remark.

Apart from Blues not one club has gone after Zigic.
Apart from Blues not one club has gone after Gardner.

and yet at least 15 clubs have gone after Marcus Bent, and bought him.

What's your point mezz?

no prem teams, no other south african teams, no european teams, no american teams (I could go on) fancied having a punt on him.

And all the whole he was with us santos were talking about these other prem clubs and euro clubs who were interested in him...the proof is in the pudding and all of that was just hot air trying to get the wind up us and worry us into a perm deal...fortunatley eck was cleverer than that

What's your point mezz?

My point is simple

Zigic - Stoke actually were chasing this guy for 2 seasons, Valencia publicly said they didnt want to sell but had to for financial reasons, plus other spanish clubs were also interested!

Gardner - Villa didnt want him to go, and go listen to his first ever interview he said himself there were 3 or 4 "other" premier league clubs interested but he had his heart set on Blues as soon as he herd we wanted him.

And for Chucho my point is if he is as great and wonderful as you say he is don't you actually think the people in football which know more than me and you and everyone else on this board might have been interested????? I mean Blackpool, Newcastle even West Brom?? Don't u think those clubs would have been interested if he was this "wonderful" player?

Sullivan the guy who brought him here, don't u think given the chance he would have gone after him??? Answer to all of them is NO

So my point to you is given the fact you think he is a great player why has no English or European club gone after him?

OMG shut up about the guy. Why you all crying over a guy who scored 3 goals and his first at home was the last home game of the season! I didnt mind the lad and thought he was something different but sadly was never going to score enough goals to merit 8million quid! Move on!!!!! Says it all not one club (even West Spam) have gone after him!

I don't get the discussion myself.....again we couldn't have signed him anyway!

You obviously have a short memory

Several clubs including Wolves, The Albion and Fulham had shown interest in Craig Gardner

And Villa (when O'Neill was there) even tried to hi-jack Zigic from us at the last minute

It was nothing to do with him not being good enough to attract other clubs, his club's valuation simply meant he was priced out of a market that was low on activity.

imo for his potential alone he was worth paying the price for.

The only reason the chucho debate keeps cropping up is because we failed to get in a striker with similar attributes with the added bonus of being able to score a goal.

Blues fans love a striker that can dribble and go past players. Alex messed up by not replacing him. Fadds was probably his get out of jail card and now he is injured were up the creek without a paddle.

Although he did not score many he was valuable to this team. He excited the crowd which got the crowd going, which got the players going. Hes trickery and creativity is missed

Robbie Savage ran around like a headless chicken as well.

Do you suppose they could have both played in the same team, then we would always be playing sideways.

Where Hleb is playing now is as a link between a striker and midfield, unfortunately Chucho played in much the same vein and scored 3 goals in 12 months. Speed may impress, but seeing and delivering crucial FORWARD passes is what we need.

For a support striker Chucho had less assists rewarded to him than Bowyer and Ferguson. He plays a different game in Latin America, where you may notice he can outrun a defence that is usually on the halfway line.

If Prem teams played like those, we'd be laughing.

Good posts people - good to see there is some sense on these boards.
:applause:
As for other clubs, apart from the valid comment above about being priced out of other clubs' range, why should we decide what's good for Blues based on what other's think? He was good enough for Blues last year - Blues finished well with him and could have finished better if they bothered their b@cksides at the end of the season; now they have no one to replace him.

Chucho is a good player...I don't think anyone can ay otherwise...When he was here he had the ability to beat players with brilliant turns and skill.

He also had a good turn of pace , but what he couldn't do was take his one on ones. Now that could have changed this season, but even if it hadn't I would have signed him as he is a player who is unpredictable, and he was such a threat to even the best defences in the league.

I think if we had him, Zigic, Jerome and Derbyshire along with Kev, that would be a great strike force with multiple options .

the only other option it gives is a player who has probably the worst shot i have seen

I think Chucho is not an option due to his agent trying to sell him like he could prouce that record in the Prem, i like Chucho, but he isn't as good (as Messi) as his agent suggests.

You clearly don't understand the game that well though pooley.

I agree with what you say about his shooting, but I would also say at the start of the season he was hitting shots with power, I don't know what happened after then.

But his all round contribution was excellent, he was always a threat, and created space and chances for others, and imo would have scored more this year.

I still don't understand why people go on about this guy! I mean when other players have left they don't brought up this much! The guy will never play for us again so why keep on bringing him up? Lets look to the future lads not the past!
