And my opinion is that Chucho was ****.  And with all respect to the posters who keep posting that he has scored again in some tin pot league, if you don't mind I will side with all the top managers, coaches and scouts of all the clubs in the all of the decent leagues in European football that have not even glanced in his direction.

Chucho my bottom!

At the Premiership Level that is for sure

But look at the quality of that goal.. Opportunities like that dont just open up in a real footballing league.

I liked Chucho, and I thought he added an exciting new dimension to the team, but I dont understand where people are going with these constant updates about how many goals he is scoring in the Mexican cup-cake league.

Joe Hart was a real hero of last season, and is replicating his fine form this season in the best league in the world, but we dont have a thread keeping us updated with all the saves he makes?

Some people are quick to tell people to 'Move on and get over Joe', but yet we have a 6-page thread on Chucho

thats a class idea...a thread on how many clean sheets he has kept and great saves he has made :P

he didnt score many but watching some of the highlights from last year, he was involved in many of them, plenty of assists and created space for jerome to run into, helping him score as many goals as he did

He played a part in a fair amount of goals, nobody will dispute that.

But £7m for a player who does that, and cant finish? No thanks.

you dont have to necessarily buy him for goals, if hes providing them and were finishing top half i thinks a good investment to be honest. he will put in 100% every game too.

Remember how poor drogba was in his first season for chelsea...

...and Benitez does it again. This time 2 goals for Ecuador.

What a great season
14 goals in 14 games for Santos Laguna
5 goals in 4 games for Ecuador

They say "it's a confidence game" for strikers. Well scoring those league goals certainly have rubbed off on his international game.

They say "it's a confidence game" for strikers. Well scoring those league goals certainly have rubbed off on his international game.

2 x goals against the mighty venezula (ranked 57th)
2 x goals against the mighty poland (rated 71st)
1 x goal against the mighty mexico (rated 28th)

His other international goals have been against the likes of El Salvador, chilie, peru, bolivia etc...the highest rated team he has ever scored past is mexico.

Now zig:

he has scored against ITALY, poland, china, IVORY COAST, belgium, sweden, romania...amongst others, a handful rated higher than mexico who are the highest team chucho has scored against

Dont let the stats fool you...

once chucho scores past italy, fance, germany, spain, ivory coast, england etc maybe then I will accept he is decent...at the moment the only thing he is fit to do is clean zig's boots...

Going to the confidence thing, how come zig has the confidence the score the same amount of goals that chucho did and it isnt xmas yet, even though he has been on the bench ust like chucho was? The chcucho excuses wore thin LAST season

He was !"£$, get over it. By jesus' ghost

He's already scored against Italy and Ivory Coast. He hasn't scored aginst France, Germany and Spain for one good reason - he has never played against them.

Benitez is great. He's on fire and as clapton bluenose has just said, scoring more than Humberto Suazo is an achievment in itself.

Benitez has never scored against Italy or Ivory Coast (nor played against either I believe), and he HAS played against Germany (2006 WC)... He's never scored against Argentina or Brazil in the many attempts he's had; Netherlands and Japan are a couple of other higher rated sides he's played against and failed to score on.

HE DID score against Republic of Ireland though.

I too liked Chucho and would love for Blues to sign a player with many of his attributes and flashes of brilliance he showed, but also with better finishing ability than he displayed during his stay... He's gone though, and he isn't coming back; so it may be best to move onward.

as kyle - who is always on the money I have to say with his facts - has said he hasnt

he has 33 international goals and has scored:

2 v peru
1 v republic of ireland
2 v chile
6 v El Salvador
1 v columbia
6 v bolivia
2 v mexico
4 v poland
8 v venezuela

so his international record is actually very poor since 20 of his 33 goals were against 3 teams...ranked 117, 65 and 57...he has yet to score as mentioned against any team higher placed in fifas rankings than 28.

He's scored 15 in 33 internationals. Ecuador doesn't play top teams on a regular basis, that's not Chucho's fault. Also you can't compare him to Zigic, as firstly they are totally different players, and secondly Zigic is a 29-year old player in his prime with only a few years left in the tank. Chucho is 24 and could have 8-9 more years to achieve great things.
