Interesting stat - Chucho scored more goals than Mexico's Guadalajara - Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's former club - they only scored 13 goals in 16 matches this season.

Haha was about to say I swear Pooley hates him!

No point crying over it now anyway. When he was here it didn't work. As much as some of you dislike Zig he has already scored the same number of goals as Chucho and lets not forget how important one of them was!

I really loved Chuch but he was the most frustrating Blues player to watch for me. It's all well and good making the football entertaining but if you're either going to fall over at the end of your run or literally pass STRAIGHT back to the keeper there seems little point in doing it.

For you young 'uns

Chucho was Ray Wilkins on speed.

people say we miss chucho...last time we played wolves chucho played and we were losing 1 - 0 (sound familiar)

he went off and kev was given longer than 10 mins and scored 2 and we won 2 - 1

we dont need chucho...we need kev to play more, get his sharpness and then he will score

This is one thing I simply don't understand with regards to amc. Why oh why won't he give Kev any time or no longer than 10 mins when we're in a losing situation?

I can understand not wantng to rely on him, but I'm positive he could have turned some of those draws into wins. What upsets me is the thought that he might not play now until the next Wolves game :(

I remember...he went off due to an ankle injury. Then he missed the next few matches and Blues lost EVERY SINGLE ONE. We finally broke the streak against Portsmouth when Chucho started again and played a cheeky backheel to Jerome for the winner.

we didnt lose every single one

the game he went off we won, we lost the next game, we won the one after, lost the next, won the one after so including the game he went off, we won 3 our of 5 and lost 2 games without an apperance by 'the best player ever' (trademark, all rights reserved)

people seem to have this chucho played we won, he didnt we lost thing...the facts above prove otherwise.

Have to say Pools, that period of time that came well after Xmas, where it all looked like we had 9th place well and truly sewn up with about 7 or so games to go, and Mcleish started playing without Chucho purely to 'Get used to live without him', we looked like a different team.

Chucho could not shoot to save his life, but I will happily disagree with anyone who says he didnt bring alot to our team when he was here. Him and Jerome scared the life out of defenders, and whilst he didnt score many, he directly assisted a few, and if not direct assists, he was always heavily involved in the buildup of most our goals.

Watch the 'Record Breakers' DVD and it puts into perspective how many goals he was involved in.

I wanted him to stay at Blues, but I knew he would never be the striker we need. When Eck moved him on, I backed his decision and havent really looked back.

Like I said, always a hard worker and always a bright spark, but he just didnt score enough, plain and simple.

Even though we finished 9th, the lack of goals was always a problem, and still is now.. But no matter how much I wanted Chucho to stay at the time, I felt then, the same way I still feel now.. Chucho will never be a consistent goalscorer at this level

I was one of his biggest critics but he did exite me with his turn of pace and the way he ran through defenders, I only moaned at him because I could see so much talent bursting to get out, have we a chance of getting him back in the January window? anyone know. :crying:

There's a thread on Benitez in football chat.

Signed a new deal with his club so it's not going to happen. There's the answer to that one.

Size wise, he's about four times the player ;)

Benitez was exciting in his movement and his pace, but as a striker, he had the shot of a three year old girl, and if the backroom rumours are to be believed, he couldn't be bothered in training half the time.

Zigic, on the other hand, shows improvement in every game, and whilst he isn't as flashy as Benitez, he's much more of a solid prospect.

Its a classic case of some people falling for style instead of substance.

Sorry mate but as much as it hurts me to say it but Zigic will never be a prem player, he is 31 next year and even if he does have a couple of good games every dozen or so I will never be convinced, you can just tell if a player "has it" after half a dozen games and at his age and what he has shown up to now I do not think he is good enough for us, think about it...how many prem clubs would show an intrest if we put him up for sale in January...the answer is no one and deep down you know that's the truth.

Oddly enough that's the same amount of Prem clubs who were interested in Chucho. None, which is why he's back in Mexico.
