Jerome should be used as an impact sub running at tierd defences not starting he is useful as a squad player but if we want to become an established prem side we need better quality upfront.
Jerome: Squad player/impact sub Phillips:Super sub derbyshire:Jurys still out looks promising Zigic:Jurys still out. O'connor:Squad player at best.
Marcus Bent:Waste of oxygen. So we need more quality upfornt along with cover for fullback and a pacy left winger.
basically your saying Jerome is the best striker at the club, where's the argument then, i agree with you :fishing:
I think derbyshire is a far better player than jerome but at the moment jerome is the only striker that has proven he is up to doing a job in the prem which doesn't realy say much for the rest of our strike force which is why we need more quality up front.
Jerome is the most frustrating player out there Imo he would be better suited to being a winger where he would be able to use his pace more because his finishing lets him down if that fails i think he should give up football and take up athletics because i rekon he could give usain bolt a run for his money over 100m which is about a far as jerome runs before giving up.

I never started this thread, the op one here is from my thread last week, I wouldn,t have the sympathy to call him a scape goat so how has this post ended up changing its name?
Because one of the mods or admin had the foresight to merge all the anti Jerome threads and call them what they are.
at least you appreciate my sense of humour **thumbup
Its about time we had a little bit of banter and humour bought back to here because atm all the threads are
1. so and so is rubbish
2. the whole team is rubbish
3. board is rubbish.
4. management are rubbish
and the counter argument to all of this is the other side of the coin where people say
5. fans are rubbish, stop moaning etc.
-------------------------------------------------
Its ironic threads are all moaning about something, and then people start making threads moaning about the people who are moaning.

24 of the 40 posts above are critical of Jerome. I don't even need to count the ones that support him. Maybe the Jerome fans are down the pub drinking to his health and continued good performances rather than posting on here.
Or maybe there just aren't that many who think he's any good...
Well funnily enough mcleish always starts him and very rarely takes him off.......why's that? The truth is a lot of you think you know a lot about football. Key word is 'think'. You haven't got a clue, big eck knows a lot more than me, than you, than all of us, and believe it or not jerome is the first name on the team sheet.
You seem to like Jerome for some reason then. A youngster who has never seen one of the old school do or die players we used to have, maybe? We do still have some like that, of course, it's just that CJ is not one of them is he really?
Oh you mean like Jon McCarthy, Garry Pendry and the rest who unless i am mistaken were all ripped to shreds by Blues fans....
No, I mean Ferdinand Coly, Rowan Vine, Emile Heskey :ball: You're being very selective there, Willie. Have I said we haven't had our fair share of donkies over the years? No I'm not. I'm saying we've had some players who would appear to be willing to die for the chance to play for Blues and Jerome isn't one of them. In fact, now I've mentioned it, donkies... Hmmmmm....
In your opinion.
I cannot beleive the slating Jerome gets. ok he missed a chance to score does he really deserve all this?
he is the level of striker this club can afford if he took every chance that came his way do you really think he would be here??
In my time i have seen Latchford, Francis,Hatton,Greenhoff,Bridges and the rest all miss simple chances the difference being in those days Blues fans had a better understanding of the game and were more tolerant.

We want a prolific striker not a horrific one! I don't like slating our players but I'm sick of him.
Well said. :applause: and enough said :redcard:
I've said it beofre and the question was avoided, name a striker the club can afford that would score on a regular basis who would come to the club. its easy to slag of players be constructive ...lets see tha names.....
Orrr, why don't the ones we already have start playing to their potential, and at least give 100% for the team.
Oh, and Mouassa Dembele, Robbie Keane for two.

derbyshire better than Jerome :LMAO:
Matt Derbyshire has only about 25 career goals vs Jerome who has about 60
Jerome scores on average once every three gams
his stats here at Blues read 108 apps to about 36 goals
Clinton Morrison scored less than that ratio at Blues 64 apps/ 16goals thats one in 4 games
get off Camerons Back!!

we could have the best strikers in the world but without the proper service they will never score what they do for other clubs.

Jerome made the 2nd goal. Without his knockdown, we lose 2-1.
Like it or not, he's the best striker at the club/
Stephen Carr could've set that one up.
Fair enough, he did well to stay onside, because at least 10 times a game the ball is booted upfield and he is still walking back. So really well done Jerome.
With your sentiment then, a better striker would've scored that 1 on 1 at the end. We win 3-2

2-0 up and cruising. ( Both assists, by the lone striker by the way)
Needless challenge, followed by a dreadful decision, and we conceed.
Jeromes fault? In the real world, no.
On here, perhaps.
Another shocking decision, gardner gets sandwiched, cahill wins the free kick.
foster builds his wall then stands behind it.
Jeromes fault?
Oh most definately. He should have been on the post to head it away when foster flaps at it. Lazy, just lazy.
Some of the comments on here are so amazing it defies belief. I remember when us bluenoses were the 12th man. When opposition used to fear going to st andrews due to the intimidating partisan atmosphere. Now its full of whingers who dont know how to 'support' People who are quick to criticise, who have forgotten the meaning of ' thick and thin'. Jerome today had a thankless task playing up front away from home against a team who are renowned for their defensive ability. He misses a late chance and he's useless, apparently. ( lets not credit the keeper hey? Joe hart wasnt superb last season, the opposition strikers were rubbish, yeah?)
Babel. pavlechenko, keane, bellemy, miccoli, n zogbia, THEY DONT WANT TO COME HERE. Given the choice, Forssell chose Everton, until he failed the medical. Oh the irony. Maybe the 'anti Jerome' brigade, are partly responsible, for not being able to replace him.
Reality check. We get a point away at Bolton. ( no wins in 15) and people are reacting like this.

That miss was pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. He blew to points there.
But his seemingly lazy attitude worries me more.
Right after that he was 10 - 15 feet off side, WALKING back with his head down - when there was 90 seconds to go. If he were on side - maybe he could have scored.
Zig must be laughing knowing he will be starting ahead of this fellow when he settles.
He had took a knock i believe, that's why he didn't sprint back.
Believe? There was no evidence i saw he took a knock, but he may have done. But then again, he would've surely had to make a run, or go in for a tackle to injure himself. McLeish, make a bold statement and drop him, for the teams sake.
Ever heard of hamstring/muscle injuries which are caused from non-contact?
Good point, his lack of movement for 88 minutes might have led to that during his brief spring at the end.

Correct and right.
But we don't have a better striker, we have Cameron Jerome. You don't have to like it, but you're going to have to deal with it.

I think 99% of people on here are happy with the draw, but I think it is time to realise that Jerome just doesn't have the passion or the skill to take us forward.
He can't finish, header, or hold the ball up.
Can anyone really argue with that statement (sorry fact)?
Or even better, can someone tell me what he does do well.

actaully you have brought up a valuable point here, we should be putting at least one player on the line slightly behind the keeper on free kicks, usually the side it's least likely to go, giving the keeper the other side, you build your wall inviting the player to go the keepers side, if the player triess the opposite side it would need to be a world class shot to go in the space above the player

What you call fact is an opinion
What IS fact is the FACT the jerome score MORE goals last season than any of our other strikers, and by a mile
You might just want to check up the definition of fact and opinion before replying

What you call fact is an opinion What IS fact is the FACT the jerome score MORE goals last season than any of our other strikers, and by a mile You might just want to check up the definition of fact and opinion before replying
His merely using your method of making up statistics and passing them off as fact. :fishing:

We want a prolific striker not a horrific one! I don't like slating our players but I'm sick of him.
Well said. :applause: and enough said :redcard:
I've said it beofre and the question was avoided, name a striker the club can afford that would score on a regular basis who would come to the club. its easy to slag of players be constructive ...lets see tha names.....
Orrr, why don't the ones we already have start playing to their potential, and at least give 100% for the team. Oh, and Mouassa Dembele, Robbie Keane for two.
You mean like the fans? You may not have noticed Dembele signed for Fulham and as for Keane he is on £60 or 70k a week. i did say strikers the club can afford.
We could've had Dembele if we wanted him. £5m? We were gonna pay £9m for N'Zogbia.
Robbie Keane, we could afford £40/50k a week for him, easy.
Newcastle are favourites to sign him!?
"Keane was meant to be joining Aston Villa earlier in the summer but Martin O’Neill’s departure and a lack of funds torpedoed that deal.
United ARE prepared to cough up for the striker, though, and are nearing an agreement that would see them cover a proportion of Keane’s wages."
So there is our affordable striker.
But then again, I think Zigic and Derbyshire/O'Connor upfront should be tried.
Jerome can be a good player for us, but only off the bench for 20 mions. He is not a starter, not by any imagination.

:D
