Can't remember if he's still at Pompey, but I'd love it, JUST LOVE IT :LMAO: if we could sign Belhadj - excellent pace, aggressive & can actually put a ball in. Failing that, if we can also sign an interpreter I'm sure Chelski or Man City have about 1500 left sided midfielders waiting to see if they make the 25 man squad :D or even get Seb on the left & put in a cheeky bid to bring Pennant back. Or, save the money & give Redmond a shout - at least he won't try & hold the club to ransom :Blues:

Belhaji plays in UAE now mate, and pennant has a buy out of €25m. No thanks! Lol!
After the greediness of yday ild like us to go for young British players now. Over sea players just want big wages & there not good enough for big wages!
Ild like to see Fox from Burnley, and players of similar ilk. Let's not run before we can walk...

Ahhh - thats where he went - couldn't remember if he was still there as I said. Didn't realise that with JP - maybe when we're out of the recession then  the problem is, young British players cost the earth if they're even remotely good, which is why our league is full of foreigners & our national team's a pile of........sorry, going off track there. TBH I'm at a loss thinking of players good enough who we'd actually be able to get?

You know what I can't even bring myself to think about it, firstly I'm just sick of the transfer window already and b I don't want to bother getting myself excited about people who we aren't going to sign. I've been doing it for the past two transfer windows!

Ive been doing IT, for 45 years.

well we have about 9 million to spend now and i would get nathan clyne from palace for 2 mill and then go for maybe babel 7 mill or just get him on loan!

If Babel wanted to play for us he'd already be here, it's a non-starter in my opinion.
I think we have to look at things realistically, we're probably not going to get a big name/money signing now at this late stage, so we have to look at who we think is available & who realistically could we get.

I'll start with Chris Eagles at Burnley. Better than Larsson or McFadden playing out wide, would improve us, as I think Gardner will if he's given a central role.

I half expect a bid for Tuncay - hard working, can play as striker, in the hole, or across midfield and favouring left hand side. Not getting game time at Stoke but the fans their and at Boro loved the guy.

Babel has said that he doesn't want to come here. Forget him.

The N'zogbia fiasco has left us with a real problem. Kris Commons might be a good shout - but I dont think we've got time to do any permanent deals before the window shuts (knowing how steady we are at getting things moving).

My bet is that there is some head scratching going on to see who we can approach for a loan. I dont expect any more permanent signings - which is a shame considering we're about four players short of a squad.

He would have been an excellent shout 2 weeks ago, but has not long signed a new contract to keep him at Turf Moor :crying:

i wouldn't mind Darren Ambrose , he could do a job as a good squad player

The point about Babel is that he's not actually a left winger. He came through the Ajax academy as a central striker and that's where he has always wanted to play.

Urby Emanuelson would be my pick.

Urby Emmanuelson is naturally left-back who has been playing as a left-wing.

Nacer Barazite

Shaun Wright-Phillips **thumbup

Maybe not on the left but maybe a great player for McLeish to set his sights on if Larsson is badly injured after today.

Can play left or right i suppose.

Absolutely totally wrong I'm afraid. He was a left winger all through the academy, as he was as he first emerged into the first team. He tried out as a left back for a season or so, but it didn't really work out. He reverted to type since the emergence of Vurnon Anita as a proper left back, last season.
