I've been so involved today I am aware of the result and the sending off is about all. But these are the stats after three games.

I like this regular feature. It might be interesting to also add a (statistical) comparison with where we were at the same stage last season. Not sure how easy it would be to do though?

He's been asked before but didn't reply, so I guess it involves more than a calculator.

We are also 2 points up on last season in the corresponding games...

Code:

                          09/10         10/11

Sunderland (A)   Lost 3-1       Drew 2-2
Blackburn (H)     Won 2-1       Won 2-1
Bolton (A)          Lost 2-1        Drew 2-2

That also puts us +3 up on last seasons GD aswell!

I believe he works it out as a 40-point target. Last season 35-points was sufficient, but I doubt that it will be enough this time around. 40-points is the standard safety margin.

Last year after 3 games

Man Utd (A) - Lost 1-0
Portsmouth (H) - Won 1-0
Stoke (H) - Drew 0-0

So on a statistical measure we had 10% of our points target and we are currently 25% ahead of that this year.

If we achieved a 25% increase in points over the season we'd end up with 62 to 63 points which last year would have put us 8th.

Just goes to show what a massive jump it is from one level to the next.
