RJ and Scott Dann for me, continuing the good form they had last season. Absolutely love them, for me they're the best centre back pairing in the prem and they've only played together for one season.

Gardner and Foster look like they might be stand out players of the whole season too.

I agree Seb and Faddy have been great but Gardner has taken his chance with both hands.

Dann has improved vastly from last season, he's now as good or better than johnson, certain future england international.

Gardner's goals are brilliant, 2 tap ins and a long ranger, he will score quite a few this season.

Larsson has got back to his brilliance of the 07/08 season, and has improved certainly.

McFadden, well for the sirst 30 mins of today, im glad we didnt get nzogbalala brilliant crosses and fantastic passing v pleased

Stand out players for me are Gardener with 3 goals in 2 games. Jerome with 4 assists in 3 games. Johnson and Dann again looking a good partnership. Up until yesterday i was impressed with Foster but his free kick set up when they scored was school boy & his penalty save attempt was also unlike what we have so far seen of him. Larrson is looking back to his undervalued self with his accurate ball deliveries.Mcfaden who is a very frustrating player sometimes has been really good also and deserves a mention.

Jerome though is definitely turning into the kind of player i look at in other teams and think why don't we have someone like that? He battles, tracks back to defend, pitches in for goals & isn't getting constantly caught off side. Jerome will get more goals & assists than any other forward outside the top ten and that should be appreciated.

Carr is a worry for me, he seems to have "Titus Brablitis" at the moment, he needs to show the same kind of composure he did last year.

I'd take that bet! We do look frail at set pieces. I dunno what game you were watching yesterday, I saw none of the tracking back, battling or offsides. He wasn't offside because he was so far off the pace he wouldn't be close enough to their goal to be.
With regards to Jerome finishing top gs out of any forward outside the top ten, that has to be attributed to the team, any other player would finish more than Jerome, Kevin Doyle/Fletcher would be licking their chops.

For me its...

Craig Gardner - Quite often, some players dont fulfill their potential in a team because they dont get enough time in the first XI, and when they move on, or get sold off, they may moan that they werent getting enough game time, but the first step towards getting into the starting XI is making the most of the times when you do start, and 3 goals in 2 games is not too shabby at all for a CM. Has worked very hard when he has been given the chance, good defensive work, great vision, and great right foot on him, is starting to look like a great signing by AMc, just like I knew he would be.

And...

Seb Larsson - Didnt play at his best last season, and there were rumours about where his future lies, but this season so far he has been great IMO. Always hugging the touchline, and when not in possession he is always shouting and screaming for the ball, delivers a great cross, good at set-pieces, and you can see that he is willing to work very hard for his contract extension.

Gardner has been outstanding so far.
Dynamic and 3 goals already. If Capello was picking his england squad on games just this season he'd be right in there. Started like a house on fire in that middle position.

and Seb. Still lacks pace but his deliveries have improved now hes moved back to a forward Right wing as opposed to a tight right midfielder. Getting into wider positions and not crossing from a narrower point.

Dann and Johnson are an odd one. Were conceeding more but theyre playing really well. Im willing to put it down to luck at the moment. 3 dodgy pens against blues. Outside box, for pulling (a pen but rarely given) and yesterdays. Once our luck turns i can see us back to our to nill victories.

Johnson and Dann have started the season in the same form that they were in last year. Arguably the best defensive partnership in the Premiership. Gardner looks to be thriving in central midfield. McFadden is looking very classy. Foster is the best replacement for Hart that we could find - and he will keep getting better with games.

Most improved - Gardner!

Gardner obviously.

Larsson's delivery has been pretty good so far.

McFadden's still trying to take on the world, but he's the only player we've got capable of taking players on right now.

And I know he's not banged in a dozen goals already (which isn't good enough for some), but I like the look of Zigic. He reads the game very well, always seems to know what's going on around him, and with more width and service he'll be a monster.

Faddy and Seb are looking good so far Faddy seems at it this year and looks dangerous when he has the ball provided both goals against Bolton.

Gardner is getting goals and long may that continue. But Johnson and Dann business as usual!! :applause:

I'm pleased that Mcfadden is showing some consistency at last. Foster has been Eck's best ever buy. Gardner is immense. Centre of defence is solid as usual. That's not a bad foundation around which to build a side... but there's a long way to go yet IMHO.

Gardner and Foster are the top 2 in my opinion.

Followed by Johnson, Dann and Agent Ridge.

Everyone else has looked so-so for me.

Carr has looked surprisingly dodgey, which isn't great. And Seb and Fadders could be injured... Wingers and a full back needed!!

Carr is playing with a broken bone in his right foot! He is a massive player for the team and the club, wise up.
