Skysports.com understands Stoke are in talks to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen from Monaco.

Gudjohnsen spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham after falling down the pecking order at Monaco.

Spurs were expected to try and make Gudjohnsen's move permanent, but the deal failed to materialise and the Icelandic international was forced to return to Monaco.

Gudjohnsen is well down the pecking order at Monaco and the French side are willing to let him move on.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Gudjohnsen, including Fulham and Rangers, but it seems Stoke are at the head of the queue for the former Chelsea man.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and he has lined up a deal for Gudjohnsen.

Surely Gudjohnsen is the kind of player we should be after? Instead of lodging £6m bids for 30 year old unproven Premier League players such as Miccoli, I feel Gudjohnsen is exactly that tricky, clever type of deep forward who could broaden our attacking play. He's played most of his career in England and he speaks perfect English, so he wouldn't take long to settle at all.

For a small fee and medium sized wages, I think we should be bursting the seams to bring him in.

I agree with you 100% but didn't he say that he wouldn't consider a move to Blues when we were linked with him before?

If he's considering Stoke, then I think we could persuade him that Birmingham is a much better place to live!

Good player but he's not a prolific goal scorer.

I hope there's some grounding in the Grafite rumour.

I would take him in a heartbeat, but with the fullback slots looking slightly under-stocked, and lack of width and quality out wide, I wouldnt expect Mcleish to bring in another striker

I know nothing about him but he appears to have a decent record.

He's quality mate.

Like Chucho with the flair and dynamic dribbling, but more consistent and knows where the back of the net is.

We'll have to wait and see if anything materialises on that then.

Doubt it, purely because of the priority of a winger and a fullback
