Hi there, Just thought you might be interested with a little bit of an update on your kid. I've seen a couple of forlorn shouts for him to be brought back early so I thought a bit of friendly edifying might be in order. He has come on leaps and bounds since his first game. He was, frankly, dreadful for the first two games but that is expected as he is only 18. He has found his feet and is doing very well for us - I think he may have got in the team of the week twice in the last four or five games? He is a hard worker (which is the theme of our particular team) and has shown some nice attacking flair, as he can hit a ball from distance pretty well too. He actually shoots from range far too Mutch () and it get become pretty wasteful. Having an eye for goal however is not usually something you can teach a midfielder, so that is a definite plus! Like all young players he still lacks a bit of consistency and there are times when he is very ineffective, but that will obviously come with experience and time. He certainly isn't anywhere near ready to be playing in the Prem though, and it would hinder his development to bring him back to warm the bench and then come on and get rings run round him for the last 10 minutes. He has bags of potential and has improved massively in the short time we have had him so far. We play good football as an honest team and he is part of a great team spirit down here. Because we have no money it gives us the chance to play kids, and Mutch is one of the many young beneficiaries of our lack of funds. So don't you start recalling him! :D Thats about it really. Good luck with the season lads, I'm sure things will pick up soon. |

Good news! :applause: There's a few quality players developing quite promisingly for Blues at the moment. It's also the most exciting thing about Blues for me presently. Thanks for the update as well, Watford?. So long as there's not a major injury crisis in midfield for us then I'd be happy (and grateful to watford) for him to stay on the entire season and continue progressing and being beneficial to you lot. **thumbup |

Mutch Update: Two assists yesterday in Watford's win over Leicester City... Really in good attacking form recently with 2 goals and 4 assists over their last 6 matches... 4 goals and 5 assists on the season (17 starts 2 sub appearances). :applause: |

Cool. Watford fans don't like it that he shoots on sight a bit too much, so I gather. I'd imagine that a few minutes playing alongside Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer would cure that. |

Mutch is our instant replacement for Bowyer IMO He will play a similar role in our squad next season as Bowyer is in this seasons, coming off the bench for 15-20 min's In 2-3 years time, can see our centre mid being Gard's and Mutch - the futures bright the futures blue |

http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/873...d_Watford_stay/? Jordon Mutch says he would like to extend his loan spell at Watford but is still waiting for a decision from parent club Birmingham City. The highly-rated central midfielder is a first-team regular at Vicarage Road and played a big role in the Hornets ending their winless run, setting up the opener and the winner at Vicarage Road on Saturday. The 19-year-old’s loan spell ends in January though, and, similar to fellow loanee Andrew Taylor, he is yet to find out from his parent club whether he will be allowed to remain with the Golden Boys. “That is still to be decided,” Mutch said this week, “I am unsure on that one at the moment as I am not sure what Birmingham want from me. “I have had a great time at Watford so we will just have to wait and see what Birmingham want and go from there. “If Birmingham are happy for me to stay then I definitely would. I have had a great time at Watford, I have learnt a lot from the gaffer Malky [Mackay], the training has been great and I want to keep improving. But we have to see what Birmingham want and go from there.” Mutch is highly-rated at Birmingham and the club were going to make him their youngest-ever debutant at 15, after signing him from Derby County, before FA rules prevented it. His development was severely hampered though, as he missed most of the 2008/09 season because rapid growth led to him needing surgery and rest after suffering fractures in both feet. Mutch, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday of last week, has been part of the Birmingham first-team squad for the last two pre-season tours but has spent most of the time out on loan, with spells at Hereford United and Doncaster Rovers during the last campaign. This is his first season as a regular starter though, and while Mutch has found it demanding, the Derby-born youngster is enjoying his time at Vicarage Road. “Everything has been great,” he said, “It has been four months now and playing in the Championship is a great learning curve, so I am just happy to be playing games. “We have done well as a group and a team this year and hopefully we will keep winning more games this season. “This season has been demanding on me but I am just happy to be playing week-in and week-out in the Championship. The games coming round quickly has been good for me.” Mutch has started the last 17 matches for Watford and on each occasion bar one, he has been alongside captain John Eustace. “It is definitely helping my confidence to be in a settled pairing,” Mutch said. “Playing with John Eustace, who is very experienced, has been great. Malky has changed it around a couple of times to a diamond but it is great to be in a settled pairing. “I learn from the players day-in, day-out, like I do at Birmingham, and playing with ‘Eustey’ has seen me learn a lot of things and made things easier for me.” Watford have a young squad and manager Mackay often refers to the players’ inexperience affecting consistency during the season. While Mutch acknowledges the point, the Birmingham loanee, who has taken over set-piece duties of late, has a slightly different outlook on being a young player plying his trade in the Championship. He said: “When you are a younger player I think it is easier to keep performances high as you are often more hungrier to do well. You want to give your best every game. “I think most of the youngsters who have been given a chance at Watford have really taken it by the scruff of the neck and have done well when they played. “It is good for me playing every week, I am hungry every game so I just want to keep doing my best in the coming games,” the midfielder added. |

I think the best for him would be to stay at Watford for the season to be honest. Get him a proper, full season, under his belt, in a settled side, and have him come back with all that experience in the summer. Im sure he'd get more out of playing for Watford week in, week out, than getting reserve matches here, and the occasional (maybe) sub appearance. |

Just scored from about 30 yards, out by the touchline, looked like an in-swinging cross, but im sure he will happily take it anyway **thumbup Well done Jord, 5th goal of the season :applause: He is definately the future of our midfield, imagine in a few seasons, the constant energy of Gardner & Mutch running around in the centre of the park  |

I agree he should stay at Watford for another season, he's obviously enjoying himself and he's getting invaluable experience. Commentators just mentioned how impressed they've been with Mutch. :Blues: |

just been watching him on TV, he looks ace, doesn't look out of place in the championship at all, deffinatly able to take a place on the bench next season, first touch needs abit of work but he looks such a decent prospect, would supprise me if other prem clubs come in for him in the summer |
