I'm not going for any of the named bands, but those of a certain age will remember the live bands we had at the pubs in the 60s and 70s. There were some great bands, who never made it but were great to listen and dance to.

I wish I could remember their names but we saw several at my regular haunt The Lyndon in Barn Lane, Solihull, so I'd pick three from there because they gave us so much fun.

Have seen many many live bands, but for me one of the best live acts has to be the Stereophonics

Bob Dylan & Clapton at Blackbush ('78 ish like)

Alexis Korner and Blues Incorporated

Quote:

Blues Incorporated featured a revolving line-up that included some of the best musicians in England at the time, future stars like bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Charlie Watts. The band's shows attracted blues enthusiasts from across the country, and talents like Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Steve Marriott, among others, would sit in with the band.

Love - Glastonbury (03 ish) Didn't go for them mind, but was coerced into it and they were brilliant.

Rammstein, no contest. Utterly insane live show.

In terms of quality of music v the studio albums, Combichrist were very good too.

Die Toten Hosen are great live for a very different reason: they attract great crowds, almost a continental football like atmosphere with flags all over the place and flares going off.

As for the most entertaining and memorable concerts I remember...

The Heavy Metal Kids, Barbarellas, 1977
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Reading Festival, 1977
Kiss, Brum Odeon, 1976

I have seen loads and loads of big bands but Green Day are the best live band for the last 18 years - amazing concerts. Its just an amazing, high energy, funny, exciting show from start to finish.

Yeah, I'm from Tamworth and used to sit next to Bayley's brother at school. They really were the best band in Britain for a while in about 1992. Now if they only didn't support the Villa...
