Back on topic..(Hangovers)..

I hate hangovers, as I've got older I dont get em simply because I know when to say Enough is Enough, just stick to beer ales/bitter keep off the spirits/shots/shorts and NO hangover ;)

So When was your last hangover?

And What was you drinking?

Thought it was About time we had a sensible topic on here

I'm no a big drinker but the good lady and myself went to a suprise family birthday bash last wee end.
Why is it when you have a few :drink: it always takes at least two days to recover?
Mind you we did have a good time.

haven't got time to have a hang over at the moment.

like you, as i've got older i now know when to say enough is enough. i usually drink till i get a little tipsy and then slow down and start mixing a beer with a coke and then stop the alchohol all together. as long as your not too peeved when you go to bed and have a quick glass of water you can usually avoid the worst the next morning.

don't see the point in getting completely rat Bothered. you feel rubbish, look like a fool and kill a considerable number of brain cells. havn't been completely drunk for a few years and to be honest i think anyone over the age of 25 who still gets so drunk they pass out is a bit sad and has a bit of an alchohol problem.

That's because all the money goes on booze. The lack of money comes after uni when you realise the debt accrued.

when i was a student you could get rat Bothered for about a fiver.

go halves on a bottle of cheap supermarket vodka which you drink at home. leave the house at about 10 and just head to whichever pub is holding a student night that night and buy a couple more pints to top you up.

and people wonder why we have such a drink problem in britain when you can get peeved for less money then you need to feed youself.

I never drink during the week, only binge drink at weekend, B) usually once a week I get rat arssed, sometimes twice a week if I'm treating myself.

I've had a few really bad ones, I find if I stick to just vodka then I usually forget most of the night but don't have a hangover, but when I mix, aaaaah its bad.

Alcohol - the cause of, and solution to, all of lifes problems

I learned many years ago as a young squaddie, that the best cure for a hangover is to avoid it by drinking at least a pint of water before getting into bed. It's the de-hydration effect of alcohol that causes the hangover.

We always placed a glass of water by our bedsides before we went out, because if you didn't, the chances are you'd be so bladdered when you got back, you would forget.

It works, 9 times out of ten. I promise.

this also doesn't work if you pass out in the hall way before reaching your bed

The darker the drink, the worse the hangover in proportion, which is why vodka, gin, and white wine don't do as much damage as whisky, brandy and red wine. I can drink gin & tonic all night, but fizzy lager just makes me slow and fat.

I have a good blow out on the cider about once a month, that gives monsterous hangovers, but the fun preceeding it is worth it. I'll probably get myself a good hangover sampling the delights of the German market in a few weeks too, alcohol eh? i bloody love it... :) :lager:

Am speaking from personal experience mate :)

Migs might have a good point regarding the colour of the booze..He's right about Lager..too gassy/fizzy..

Last year when I was in Vegas the beer was Budweiser or similar..rubbish beer, couldnt get a decent pint anywhere "no" ..Ended up drinking Newcastle Brown out of the bottle...
