Can any of you clued up folks out there help me with a question I've been intending to ask for a long time.

When a cartoon character, say an animal like the hairy monsters currently showing on Sky for example, are humanised, with voices etc,

Why are they always shown with three fingers and a thumb, and not four fingers and a thumb. ?

A lot of Disney characters are like this too. I assume there must be a reason, but what?

I'll stand by for sensible, or not, answers please.

The answer is simple trev, Saw a docu years ago about it. It's because if they try to draw a full hand on a cartoon character it would look out of sinc ie enormous. Well that was the excuse years ago I would have thought these days with modern thecnology they could possibly manage it.

Thanks Treetop, I suppose that makes sense, but as you say with technology today you would think they could do it.
