Just got back and Carr had a good game, Redmond when he came on was very good, as was Ziggy. I thought Bowyer played well in the second half, first half he was missing. Derbyshire was woeful, micheal kept losing hte ball then running around and to be fair winning it back. Super Kev kept dropping deep to collect the ball as the midfield were static. Played muh better when we reverted to 442 |

Michel was our best midfielder... had a pretty decent match. Good distribution and solid tackling... but he made some silly errors like everyone else. One of those games - hold a lot of possession, but little in the way of finishing and then a few errors lead to you being down. |

BIRMINGHAM BRENTFORD Possession * Birmingham 58% * Brentford 42% Attempts on target * Birmingham 10 * Brentford 5 Attempts off target * Birmingham 10 * Brentford 4 Corners * Birmingham 6 * Brentford 3 Fouls * Birmingham 3 * Brentford 13 BBC stats suggest we did everything but put the chances away. |

That's about right. We just didn't create good enough chances, and when we got a few their keeper was on top form. Their goal was a bit daft. Carr gave it away in midfield, Dann missed a good chance to take the ball and their player had way too much space to put it away - fairly undeserved for them, but typically cup tie-esque. |

Michel looked comfortable on the ball and worked hard. Easily our MOTM. Gardner was decent. Redmond is a crowd pleaser. Zigic looked good when he came on. Everyone else was okay. Nothing more. With probably the exception of Bowyer. Bowyer looks like a bloke who has lost his self confidence. Some of his passing was poor. Not willing to take on shots from the sort of position he scored from last season. Blasted his penalty 6' over the bar. Truthfully, it wouldn't shock me if that was his last start for us. Gardner, Michel, Hleb and even Fahey are all in front of him in the pecking order. |

Entitled to your opinion mate, I realise he made some errors but generally he fought hard and made some good passes... Someone else agreed with me, he won man of the match... (not that that means much!) |

Bowyer about -100000000000000 Derbyshire about -100000000 They were absolutely dreadful. No joke. Everyone else played pretty well i guess, parnaby only passed it forward once though :P Good result. Good enough performance. :bluzz: |

Maik Taylor - 7 - Didnt do anything wrong and made some decent saves Stephen Carr - 6 - Did his job well, didnt get forward as quick and direct as he usually does though, took his penalty well Liam Ridgewell - 7 - Played well, adjusted back to the centre back position well Scott Dann - 7 - Comfortable on the ball, thought he was our best defender and I was surprised at how well he put his penalty away Stuart Parnaby - 5 - Could tell he is not a left back, didnt look comfortable with the ball Lee Bowyer - 5 - Not his usual determined self, didnt control the midfield well and his penalty was awful Michel - 7 - Sprayed balls around left and right, looked controlled on the ball, would of got a higher rating if he was quicker in making his passes Craig Gardner - 7 - Nice comeback game for craig, when on the ball he always looked forward and won a lot of free kicks for the team, beautiful penalty too Kevin Phillips - 7 - even though he got the goal during the match i thought that he had a poor game, didnt make many chances, attacking midfielder is not his position, he is a finisher rather than a creator Garry O'Connor - 4 - Did nothing Matt Derbyshire - 4 - Poor game, It was his chance to shine and he just didnt Subs - Nathan Redmond - 8 - First 5 minutes he lifted the game and got the crowd going with his quick feet and pace but after a few minutes he did not get much of the ball, Looked lively and very forward thinking when on the ball though Nikola Zigic - 6 - We looked more direct when he was brought on Barry Ferguson - 8 - As soon as he come on we were quicker on the ball, did exactly the same job as Michel but Ferguson is a lot quicker on the ball and built up the play quicker |

I dont agree with that at all, he played well when he was on the ball, dribbling was pretty good for his age, and still composed around the box |

I know this will get the usual "O'Conner" bashing brigade going, but I think tonight sums it up. I like him, he works hard, he really wants to do a good job, but unfortunately he's really not good enough for the Premier League. As much as the opinion will rage, only facts will convince me now, and the facts are abismal. Thanks, I'll apauade you on your return, but goodbye. |
