This guy IMO, is a real talent - not like other "talents", i mean a real talent, at times today he reminded me of ronaldo, a few silky skills and a nutmeg to boot.

Just wondering how many of you think he go places or just a bit of false hope?

He certainly isn't the finished article yet, but my God he lit up St. Andrews this evening when he came on. Amazing for such a young lad.

Reminded me of when AJ used to come on ten years ago or so, and turn a match on its head. Great stuff. Genuinely excited, hope he gets a few chances this season.

Too early to say. He's got the flair, he's got the confidence, he's got the pace - so he must have a decent chance of making it. What we dont know is whether he's got it between the ears.

On the pitch he has to develop his decision making. At the moment he sometimes tries to do too much himself, although this evening he did seem to be looking for an outlet, and he put some nice passes through into the box, so the signs are good. But I've seen plenty of prospects who look like they could be world beaters in their teens, but there nowhere to be seen by the time they're in their twenties.

There are some who would have him in the first team now. It's too early. The odd match on the bench and 20-minutes here and there is the right way to go. Alex knows what he's doing with him.

Not knowing the 'semi-injury' situation like on our bench I was dead amazed that Redmond came on when we were still 0-0. And Fahey/Ferguson remained sitting on the bench.

I thought does AM really like see us coasting to a victory ? :D

We were 50-50 then.

5 or 10 minutes later we were behind :banghead:

But Redmond's head didn't drop. Good lad.

I really wanted to see Asante come on....but like after Redmond came on I thought - NO - we're going to flatten one kid's self belief, don't let's do it to two of them.

I thought Michel was OK, but I'd put Gardner ahead in the MotM stakes.

On a sort of side note, I think it helps Michel that we have 2 other Spanish speakers in Ziggy and Alex H. - espesh in training like.

Fire and Brimstone eh ?

:LMAO:

Good old bloody blues. Kill us all one day.

Redmonds introduction was exactly what was needed, he was direct he went past people, provided flair and skill and that through ball was a thing of beauty. He's young and needs development and will need to learn when to try and beat people and when to pass as sometimes it seems he has a tendency to do too much. But what a prospect blues have. He has all the raw attributes of a very good player for the club and I hope he is given minutes on the pitch to put the fear of God up some teams this year.

For me after tonight performace that what he does have, up stairs, he has got it. He didn't waste the ball if there was no where to go, he whiped the ball in at pace at the right tmes, he never left he full back exposed. That is real maturity for a player who is young and starting out.

Aggree 100% with lawz and prawnman man :D

I really liked him, and I think he would learn more doing 30 minutes alongside Ferguson - as much as possible - every other match or so - rather then going back to the Academy till the next Carling or lower division FA Cup match.
He needs to train alongside Fergs and Gardner, because I see him as genuine potential. Confidence needs to be allied to self-discipline tho'

I think he has quality and a hell of a lot of potential but I hope Eck don't throw him into the squads for the Prem. We seen so many young players suffer big time from that and he is only 16!!! Playing against Brendford is one thing but doing in the prem is different. One for the future thats for sure!!

I didn't seem to bother Jack Wilshere or Aaron Ramsey, Rooney, Owen and so on. We need to get the balance right between trusting the upcoming players and the established talent. I reckon Man Utd are the club to look up to in this way as they always seem to throw their youngsters in at the right moments.

i liked this lad when he came on last night but he's still got a long way to go imo.

he hugged the touchline (on the right, initially) and at times he needed to exploit some of the space inside because if he'd done that then he'd have worried the Brenford defenders even more than he did.

for me he wants a dead ball most of the time and then works from that but better defenders will just sus that and take him out with tough tackling.

he's got some wonderful tricks but needs more time to improve his awareness of the game - great little prospect though.

Good prospect but has a way to go become a regular, but he is learning all the time and these games will do him no harm, would like to see the other kid that was on the bench next.

I thought he started great

then Brentford doubled up on him and he ended up being switched to the other flank

A great prospect BUT for me a long way from a starter just yet

This is true but they all made the break though around the 18 yr old mark now Redmond still has 2 years before he gets to that. I just hope we don't pile too much pressure on him. All we need is the lad to get a chance then for it not quite work for him and then everyone wrights him off! Hopefully he might get a run out in the FA Cup early rounds to which would be good for him.

I agree Trevor Francis was good enough at 16.

He is undoubtedly a talent, however my fear is that he will get gobbled up by a bigger club just like our past good players. What happens in say two years time when he is making the first team reguarly and then Man U come in with a £10M offer?

I was pleasantly surprised when he came on. Plus the added bonus of the entire Tilton singing his name must have really boosted him :D The first touch he had with the through ball was sublime & the fact Brentford double teamed him after about 10 minutes, coupled with virtually evryone in our squad looking to opass to him says it all IMO. Agreed though - not a starter just yet as his pace & trickery will frighten the life out of tiring defences in the last 20+ minutes of games.
