This is how long it took Matt Derbyshire to touch the ball last night....and then it was when a Brentford player hammered it at him from close range! It was another 10 minutes before he actually controlled it for the 1st time. In all he touched the ball 5 times in the whole period he was on the field and made no positive contribution to the game, Incredible stats! Having said this I was delighted that we rescued a potentially demoralising result just days before the Villa game and am now looking forward to the 1/4 finals. |

I just dont get it.. When he came on against Blackburn in the league he looked deadly, he took a few people on, looked sharp with the ball at his feet, and his movement was good. Now he looks like he has never played in a competitive fixture before. The lad has got it, I am absolutely sure of it, but im not just sure what is missing, the fans sing his name every time he comes on, maybe it is a confidence thing, im not sure, but he is good, I know he is, I think he just needs one goal to kickstart his Blues career properly, but I cant see where that is going to come from when he isnt making an impression in the Cup games |

Those stats are SHOCKING. But he's short of confidence. Tom Ross and Macca were saying how he was hiding from opportunities from where he might get the ball. Not on purpose but because his confidence is shot. Definitely just needs a goal. |

Greece ruined him. Can't find his legs in the Prem. Should drop down a division to regain his confidence. |

Agree, Lukey Derbyshire is 10 times the better option up front than Gary O'Connor anyway Funny how some of our supporters judge him on merely 'one' Cup game......But if I recall he did score against Rochdale in this competition two rounds ago ....a tap in but at least he was in the right place at the right time .....a tendency that's frequently missing from Mr O'Connor's all round approach Just needs a goal and a run in the side to give him some spark.....but with 4 other strikers seemingly ahead of him right now, it might take time or even injuries or suspensions Potentially he's a very good player |

Potentially they all are. He's had three games now to show us what he can do, and for the most part the answer seems to be, not a lot. They may have been only cup games, but he's not stepped up to the plate, he's run away from it. He had eight minutes on Saturday, and in that time he pulled out of two challenges, miscontrolled the ball three times and put in two woefull balls. Confidence or not, there is something about the kid that means he is either unwilling or unable to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make it his own. Zigic got the benefit of the doubt because of his inexperiance in this division in this country, Derbyshire doesn't have that excuse. He's rapidally running out of time and goodwill, and he's going to have to be a firecracker in training, because at the moment, I'd put him a very distant last in our striking choices. |

"Deadly" isn't a word I would use. "over-hyped", or is that two words. When he replaced O'Connor on Saturday, we were calling for O'Connor back! The measure of the striker last night was when he got a clear sight of goal he passed it sideways to O'Connor who had two men on him! < < |

Don't rate him at all, and was a bit miffed when we signed him truth be told. At least with Garry O'Connor you get commitment, which is something. Derbyshire hasn't shown anything yet. |
