I took a trip onto the forum of the other lot, and literally 95% of them take for granted the fact that they will beat us on Sunday, with or without their key players, they still talk as if it is becoming second nature for them to win this fixture with ease. I come on here, and on every thread, the recurring theme is fear for Sunday's game! Why is nobody confident of going to the game, playing our stuff and taking all 3 points? I admit that there has been times in the past when I have been dreading playing them, but right now, is not a bad time to play them. They are a good team, but theyre out of sorts, we are still as unpredictable as ever, but at the end of the day, on the day if we play as well as last season at VP, we will win, im sure of it! I hope Mcleish spends this week glued to his DVD player, researching their weaknesses, and springs a tactical surprise or two, lets face it, that diamond formation came out of nowhere, and whilst that may not work against Villa because of their onus on wing-play, im sure if Mcleish puts his brain into it, he can definately get something from the game! What is the point of the lads even turning up if no-one thinks they can do it?! Ambition please! :banner: K.R.O |

For what it's worth, i think we will win 1-3. I also think we have the better team. :Blues: |

Hmm, i know what you mean, although they are only so confident because they have won the last few - aswell as the fact most of them are arrogant d***heads! I am not that confident going into the game because of how I have seen us play this season, I have been quite concerned with our defensive vulnerability especially to pace - which is something they like to use down the wings (Carr caught out several times recently) Reasons for confidence would be that we managed draws at Sunderland and Bolton - altho both played with 10 men for the 2nd half.... and we did fairly well at Arsenal. They havent been setting the world alight recently, but they could have got a draw or win at Sunderland based on chances they created. I'm always nervous about derby games to be honest, will still be there singing my heart out for the game - but I wont be able to eat before :) In conclusion, I think its good that our fans arent as delusional as theres in thinking we should expect to win the game...we've only won one away league game in 2010....but I still live in hope we can do it on Sunday! **thumbup |

I'm as confident as I would be going into any away game, don't care whether it's the Vile or anyone else. Our away form worries me a bit, but if we can play like we did against Arsenal then I'll be happy. As long as we play them off the pitch like we did last year at Vile Park I'll be happy whether we win lose or we draw! |

Having a realistic outlook towards the game does not equate to having a lack of ambition. I think that they are better than us. The teams are closer than they have been in the last few years, and the derby factor may be more of a leveller than in previous years, and they're still smarting from the loss of O'Neil, but I still think they're better than us. Its not a failing to recognise and understand your limitations and failings. I'm thinking we've a very good chance of coming away with at least a point, and a more than reasonable chance of nicking a cheeky win. My heart, on the other hand, hopes we batter the dirty power blue gets 6-0, with them down to eight men and half the ground falling into a huge crevice an hour after the game finishes. |

Luke I think we can definatley win it, I don't want to say too much before hand, but it seems to me that its our time. They have Agmonglahor out who is always a pain in these games, and we have Hleb back , getting his form and also Zigic hitting form. Add to the fact the way the last game went, I think we will be after revenge. |

With stupidity, comes ignorance. Obviously want Blues to win, genuinely think we have a good chance. Blues 3 -1 **thumbup |

top post being more realistic isn't lack of ambition. They are at home, if it were the other way round i'd say Blues to win without a doubt, but on their own turf with all their fans it's going to be tough, but it is do-able. if we play with the same energy we did against Blackpool i can see us taking at least a point |

Okay, maybe lacking ambition was a bad way to put it.. But I hope everyone realises how much of a good chance we have of winning this game, we are just as likely to win as they are.. I actually just found an article saying that the odds are swinging in our direction.. Take a look .... http://football.fanhouse.co.uk/2010/10/28/...-city-showdown/ |

all we need to worry about is that Alex fires up our players enough and tells them, this is it, the chance to set the record straight......however I have this nagging feeling we'll get them in the cup, beat them sunday and they'll get swift retribution :( |
