Looks like KP could have a say in the derby proceedings on Sunday, I absolutely love the way he is so keen to push Blues on for success, rather than just accepting a place on the bench and in cup games..

Quote:

KEVIN PHILLIPS has warned Aston Villa he wants to complete his amazing derby goalscoring record by bagging one for Birmingham on Sunday.

The 37-year-old has got at least one goal in every one of the big local fixtures he has played throughout his career – right back to scoring for Watford at Luton in his first year as a pro in 1995.

And after showing he is as sharp as ever by grabbing the injury-time equaliser that helped put Blues in the Carling Cup quarter-finals, he’s hungry for another slice of the big time.

Derby king Phillips scored for Sunderland against both Newcastle and Middlesbrough during his time in the North-East, was on target for Southampton against Portsmouth in 2004, for Villa against Birmin-gham in 2006 and then for West Brom against Wolves the following season.

Phillips said: “I’ve scored for Villa against Blues, so I know all about the passion of this fixture.

“I only played six minutes in the two derby matches last year so I didn’t have much chance.

That last line suggests he doesnt know wether he is playing, but I hope he does, id absolutely love him to score, more than anyone in our whole squad (Bar maybe Ridgey or Craigy..

In a seperate article, Super Kev again states he could have a partnership with Ziggy, similar to the one he shared with Niall Quinn at Sunderland.. By the looks of it Phillips is looking to end his career with a bang and is dead-set on getting involved in quite abit of first team football.. Have a look...

Quote:

Birmingham City veteran Kevin Phillips believes he can form a similar playing relationship with Nikola Zigic as he did with Niall Qunn back in their Sunderland days.

Ahead of the Second City derby against Aston Villa on the weekend, Phillips is keen to play alongside the 6ft 7in Serbian international and re-live his Black Cats heyday when he formed a dangerous partnership with Quinn.

"Ziggy looks like Quinn, is similar in stature, and kind of runs like him as well,” the 37-year old said.

"I tried to feed off a few of his flicks and Ziggy is getting better week in and week out.

"He is winning a lot more balls in the air which we want him to do and he is chipping in with goals.

"He is getting better and stronger.

"He has scored two in two Premier League games and that is what he has been brought here to do, give defenders problems.

"He has done that in the last couple of games.

"Yes, we all know we can get more out of him and he knows that.

"But his attitude is good so I am sure there is more to come from Ziggy over the coming months."

But I’m well up for this weekend’s match and will be ready to play if asked.”

Hope he gets on in the second half against a tired defence in probably his last season with us it would be a great memory if he scored.

He won't start Sunday because he can longer last a whole 90 minutes

He'll come on in the 2nd half if we are losing

AM will likely play a 5-4-1.....Zigic the likely starter with Hleb as a support in the hole just behind him

Craig Gardner will likely start too

He looked pretty fit the other night after 120 minutes,
These are super fit guys who should be up for the challenge,
Yes I know his age but Kev has looked after his body well.

Phillips last goal scorer looks a good bet.

Remember the guy can barely last 90 minutes and played 120 the other day (ok it was against Brentford) so he'll prob come on about 70ish mins.

Vilers had a long battle last night with most of their first teamers so they should be adequately tired by the time he gets on.

It's Sunday lunchtime and something evil's lurking in Villa Park
Under the floodlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed

'Cause this is Villa Killing time
And no one's gonna save you Super Kev's about strike
You know it's Villa Killing time
You're fighting for your life but this is Kevin Phillips night, tonight

I say start him. He proved his fitness the other night, and I think we are more likely to nab a scrappy goal this weekend than score glorious set pieces...

No chance of him starting

He was on TALKSPORT this morning as always talked very well , said his legs were weary after the game the other night

And refused to get into slagging Villa off - just said he had been proud to play for them and would never slag off the supporters

But was desperate for us to put one over on them and understands how important it is for us the supporters

Talks very well
