What does everyone make of the quotes about a move then?

I think rj calls a spade a spade and what he has said is probably right on the money.

I would be annoyed if he did an upson and left to go to a team like west ham but if he has designs on a move to lpool, utd, Chelsea etc then fair play to him.

We are privileged to have him and Scotty dann so we should enjoy them whilst we can IMHO. They are both top young players who could quite easily play at a higher level

I think its the same for most players in the squad,
If a big move came about they would be off,its about ambition for your self, loyalty does not exist in football anymore,
Think with both Dann and Johnson they have better players in front of them at the moment for getting in the England squad.

He is ambitous and that the way he should be. Simple as that. Every player is for sale at the right price and he may or may not move in time. Every player will be replaced with another player eventually, thats football.

For now i am glad he is at Blues and i hope he stays for a while longer.

Love ambition in players and managers, otherwise whats the point, everyone needs a goal in life to aim for,
This week alone Mcleish himself has said to finish in 17 place will be an achievement, and he does not think the squad is strong enough to to win the cup,
That in my opinion is showing a big lack of ambition,it just always comes over as dull and boring, its just telling the players ,you are not good enough.

Yeah fair play to him. If the big move comes calling, take it Rog! Why should he be loyal to Blues for the rest of his career? Unless we break into the top 4 within the next 2 years I can see someone snapping him up.

If he moves to clubs like Liverpool it'd a sideways/backwards step though and totally not worth it.

Dann & Ridge or Dann & Jiranek would easily be as good as Dann & RJ. If the fella gets his big opportunity he should go with our blessing and always be welcomed back as a hero.

Dann is more likely to move to a bigger club anyway, given that he's 4/5 years younger than Rog.

But it's a no-win juggling act, trying to appease the expectation of the supporters. Also, he probably has to cover his own backside with the lack of investment that was originally promised, and the fact that he over-achieved last season.

If Eck had also worked miracles upfront, like he had with the centre-halves, then who knows, we might have been pushing for a Europe place, and he might not have been interested in anywhere else.

Agree with the others on here, in wishing him luck if he does go to a bigger and better club. If a club like ours gets 2-3 seasons out of a player like that, then we've done well.

He's just been upfront and honest, i like that in anybody, if a top 6 team came in for him aslong as the deal suited us and Roger, then i'd thank him for his service and wish him all the best, and applaud him when ever he played against us.

Of course i'd love him to stay untill the end of his career, but long gone are the days of players staying at clubs out of love and loyalty.

I would love for RJ to stay at Blues for the rest of his career, but sadly I cant see it happening.

Another sad thing, is that IMO, he wont go to a Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Arsenal... He will go to a Spurs,Fulham or an Everton.

Like he says he is a great blocker, great tackler, good with his head, but he lacks the quality on the ball to be at a top 4 club, but Dann however, is much more marketable to the big 4 clubs, which is even more worrying, and I also believe that one of them leaving would hugely unsettle the other one.

I reckon Dann will end up at United, Liverpool or Arsenal.. Purely because he has all the attributes of a tough CB, but he also scores goals, and his distribution is class.

Rodge will go to a London-based team like Fulham or Spurs I reckon, and if not them, maybe a team like Everton.

Like I said I would be extremely upset to see Johnson leave, as would I with Scotty Dann, but the only consolation possible, is that we get a fair amount of money for them. Given todays financial precedents that have already been set, the likes of Lescott sold for 23mil and a price-tag on Gary Cahill worth about 18mil, if we let either RJ or SD depart for peanuts then I would be furious.

I also think if the financial worries attached to BIH are as serious as a few people think they are, then I reckon the board would let these two go for a substantial fee.

Like RJ said though, I doubt either one would force the issue, so for now lets enjoy them both being extremely talented, and both being Royal Blue!

Just to side step for a minute to counter this ... repetitious and fact absent, gossip.

BLUES are in for a £7 million windfall from their Chinese parent group – and possibly up to £25 million.

Parent company Birmingham International Holdings Ltd have announced a shares issue which could raise many millions for the Premier League club, it has been revealed.

Peter Knowles, of Leeds-based stockbrokers Park Square, said
Blues’ finances were “relatively secure”, adding: “Provided that they get all the money in (through the share issue) Birmingham City is going to be relatively comfortable compared to some of its peers.”

Back on Topic.

Every player has his price - from Ronaldo to Roger. Undoubtedly some clubs will be after him, and a few other players at blues - but hus ambition is there for all to see. He won't move to Everton or Fulham to improve his chances to get a cap - it would have to be a bigger club, more high profile.

Capello is supposed to be at villa on Sunday, chance to stake a claim. **thumbup

Reading the interview, he never once says he wants to leave at all. In fact, I think he is quite positive, saying he is happy to keep playing for Blues in the top division, as long as he is getting first team football.

Him saying he wants a big move is hardly a surprise. If he is playing for a club like Tottenham he would walk into the England team...
