On the run up to the election, I heard one article saying Cameron would look into a return to standing at football grounds, whilst the Lib Dems were saying they were up for the idea (not on about the vast banks of old terracing here but restricted areas). Has anyone heard anything since? Or was that just another 'un'truth? |

It's been mentioned a few times even the last governmentvsaid they'd look into it but nothing ever came of it. I dout anything will again, I suppose if football supporters clubs got together and put a little bit of pressure on the governments they might do something. But personaly I can't see it ever happening. |

There's no way we'll see it at Premier League grounds, but you can still stand at non-league. I love the "seats are evil" chant. |

I'm all for it if they can create grounds with safe standing areas like several teams have abroad. Seating is here to stay, but there should be areas for those who want to stand. I think it would make the atmosphere so much better. |

I agree, when there was standing you could stand with your mates but now it's hard to get seats in the same area so if you start singing your likely to be singing on your own , if your in a group and you strat more fans tend to join in. |

The Paddocks were made for standing. It's just the posh people in them boxes who used to complain when people stood up in the Paddocks. :D Trouble is the regulations and pricing. If we did have a standing area - obviously cheaper - we would have to offer visiting fans the same lowest price, and would all of them want to stand? Or have a seat at say £8 ? In January, Arsenal are going to be the first club to be selling "ordinary" seats at £100. The mind truly boggles. Are all gooners merchant bankers or something? Standing is a vital part of increasing admission and keeping down prices. But I'm with the doc on this, too many regulations cross-fertilised with each other can prevent it. For doc I'd have 42 standing only places :D |

Thatcher was after all seater arenas before Hillsborough. She didnt take into account the fact that the police opened the doors and let too many supporters in o that awful day in 1989. The fences crushed the fans. We have a young generation who never experienced the terraces, which is a shame. Does someone want to start the campaign then? :Blues: |
