If I was a Toon fan, I would be in absolute despair.

Mike Ashley aint got a clue, and today he proved it.

Chris Hughton is not only an extremely talented man in the football world, but also comes across as a gentleman, and absolutely no-one deserves to get dumped like that after the way he has set about this season and last season.

The only saving grace is that it wont exactly be hard for him to walk back into football, and I hope he walks back into a club that will treat him like a proper human being

To be fair they love a good fan favourite over at West Ham, and im sure the thought must have crossed Gold and Sullivan's mind to consider him a replacement for Avram should he not turn the Hammer's fortunes around soon.

Watch this space I reckon

They've been looking for an excuse for a long time to get rid. They couldn't do it following the Sunbedland game, just needed to wait a wee while.

We know that TJ...the question is----WHY???

Do you think anyone other thn the club is going to give you a definitive answer?

According to William Hill the following are the fav's for the job -

Alan Pardew 4/6
O'Neil - 10/3
Curb's - 13/2
Paul Lambert - 12/1

Shearer 20/1
Kevin Keegan 66/1
Gazza 100/1

Tempted to have Steve Clarke at 14/1 a coach I rate highly and would love to have here

What idiots must be in charge at Newcastle.

An excellent, respectable young manager who works wonders on a small budget with a divided boardroom - 11th on the table and he's sacked.

Crazy.

he is also the lowest paid manager in the prem...I think we all knew it was coming with ashley stalling on contract talks...this is another reason to dislike newcastle...a horrible decision!

Martin Jol has just left Ajax by mutual consent...

It's Jol then.

Me mate texted me like about half hour ago. I asked in another thread, but no response.

Jol's a slow starter if memory serves me right. He builds up teams - with dosh - slowly.

May not be enough to quell the dressing room or hold their position.

What a stupid stupid stupid stupid decision.

I hope he has a huge dismissal fee in his contract.

Chris Hughton never got his Premier level wages after bringing them back up, Ashley was still humming and hawing at the start of the season about his contract - so how long was this in the pipeline?

I would have no respect for any manager that took over the toon now .

I mean like, they've said they are going to advertise and interview...and if it's Jol then it was already a done deal.

I mean, the toon aren't even me 5th favourite alternate but Hughton's sacking really upsets like.

Ajax are in 'constructive talks' with Johan Cruijff. I'm guessing they are thinking Cruyff as T.D. and Frank Rijkaard as first team coach. (?)

Rumor is that Cruyff and Jol's assistant Danny Blind have been agitating behind Jol's back for some time. Blind and Jol haven't spoken for several weeks after an argument concerning Jol's failure to select Blind's son Dailey. So the 'Jol to Toon' story might not be as clear cut as first thought.

Jol was on Villa's wish list as well as having enquiries from Newcastle.

Ajax refused and Jol signed a new, better contract. At the time like I felt Jol was just upping the ante to get a better deal from the Prem enquiries.

If this backroom stuff is true, then if he joins toon, it might not be the best for them.

Such a poor decision from Newcastle. I take it that the managers in clubs positioned 12th-20th will be thinking that they're out the door soon as well? No.

I don't think that Hughton will go to West Ham though, as sacking a manager on a new contract is expensive and West Ham's current board don't do expensive, as we all know.

Side topic - but what WestHam need to do is talk up Avram and hope that it impresses Ashley or Whelan.

Makes no sense - the players have a great relationship with Hughton and they play their hearts out for him.

well they didnt play their hearts out for hom at west brom on sunday, it was the worst newcastle performance i have seen for years. they just simply didnt try. carol and abi what ever his name is never closed down the albion back 4 at all. albion were just strolling out with the ball. so i blame the players, they say they are gutted, well they should have tried a bit harder.

Oh Yeah ?

Bookies didn't see it until late on Sunday early Monday- when huge money started going on Hughton for the chop.

Quote:

William Hill closed the book on Hughton completely on Monday morning, having opened the day at 15-1.

It's suspected that friends of Ashley were behind the big bets that came in late and barely hours before the announcement.

Until then, all that anyone could suspect was that Ashley was playing "negotiations" with Hughton over a better contract. That's why he was between 15 & 20 to 1 on many bookie sites.

I think they play Liverpool and then us. If it's Pardew we'll be ok :LMAO:
