An absolute joke of a decision, which ranks up there with the Chris Hughton sacking. A team that is in 13th, five points above the relegation zone. Allardyce, has always been a manager that hasnt really had a lot of money to spend, possibly newcastle the exception. Ive got a feeling that they may go for Martin Jol. |

Shocking and quite frankly disgraceful decision. These new owners only took over a couple of weeks back and have now sacked him, likely because they lost to Man Utd and Bolton? Joke really |

If it wasn't for a quick flick over to SSN I would've thought that this was a wind up. I haven't read the above sites so I don't know the reason, if any has been given, but I can only guess at it being because of the style of play and possibly with an eye on the January window. |

I can't really get me head round all this. Hughton for a "big name" manager - a"big time" manager. OK he was a gambling mate of Ashley and the Toon MD. For some reason he has a big supporter in Joey Barton in the dressing room, who claims everyone supports him, when almost everyone was saying they didn't. :banghead: Now Allardyce??????? This guy was being talked up in the London media FGS as a potential England manager. Last bloody week. :banghead: Like the toon, it will be very interesting to see who comes in, and how quickly. Ashley and Pardew were discussing contracts 10 days before Chris Hughton got his P45 - I wonder who these newcomers have been talking to - or worst - which agents they've been listening to......... :banghead: The footie :banghead: world is sick.... An me head hurts. :banghead: |

That did cross my mind actually, but I'd be surprised if he'd jump into a new role that quickly. Most managers take a bit of time off if they've been sacked rather than if they're moving straight from one club to another don't they? |

I cant - imagine the pay out...houllier may be a rubbish manager but he is wise and experienced enough to get himself a good deal. He has a 5 year deal, if villa sacked him theyd owe him 4.5 yrs pay or maybe try to negotiate another offer, either way they will have to pay a fair old whack |

re: Hughton to Blackburn gossip i think Hughton will be more picky about a club's owners now he's just seen how Allardyce has been stabbed in the back, and after being betrayed himself i cant see him jumping at the job i think Allardyce has been sacked after delivering an ultimatum to the board about transfer funds (like on football manager!) he's mentioned loadsa times about strengthening in January and the Venkys owners have always said there'd be barely anything for Allardyce to spend you could tell from early on Allardyce didnt want them there |

When I first heard this story it was claimed that Sam had had a row with the owners over transfer funds, but this seems to have since disappeared from the articles. |

i dont see why houghton has to be picky. if he was offered the blackburn job say on a 3 year deal, didnt do well and then got the sack after 12 months he doesnt have to worry, he gets his contract paid up. its the same old managers on the merry go round, like pardew, works gets the sack, works gets the sack. if you work, you have a contract, if you get sacked for poor performance they dont pay your wages until you are 65.football managers cant lose. they take time out on full pay and work for sky for a few months until another job comes along, i dont feel sorry for them at all. Di mateo is doing a great job at the albion, but i know, he knows and we all know it will go wrong at some stage over the next couple of years and he will get the sack or be sucssessful and move on. it seems only man utd and arsenal are safe jobe now, even liverpool famous for its boot room management have changed. |

If I'd just spent 20 odd million on a premiership club, and turned up and found Allardyce in charge, with his 'style' of football, he'd have been long gone by now. |

There are many who would agree with you. Incidentally, what if you'd spent 80m on a Premier League side, turned up & found McLeish in charge. What would you do then? |
