Seems a bit gay to me with blokes discussing culinary stuff. Do your wives even allow you near the kitchen? :fishing: |

Why would it be gay for a man to cook - at home even - not just for a job? I did a quick mental check and I think about 50% of friends who are male, cook on a regular basis (in their homes). Been to dinner a fair few times where the husband has cooked the entire dinner. This attitude that women only do the cooking really went out with the dinosuaur friend. :boohoo: |

Can I join you Brothers of the Blues Forum for Justice? I know i'm considered an old git by some people, but i'm strong on loyalty and discipline, and would be happy to sit on any disciplinary panel, as long as I can be the hanging Judge. |

Yeh. Thanks Baron. Try out my recipe on the the thread." I'm whacky and zany etc." I'll guarantee it's a winner. Tried and tested over the years. You just have to be patient and wait for it. You can speed it up by putting it in the airing cupboard, it could be ready for xmas then, but it's better if left under the sink for six months. Incidently, that's also where I leave my single malt for safety. Bells etc in the booze cabinet for the oicks who don't know the difference. Cheers. :rudolph: |

For the Xmas holidays this always makes the house smell like xmas and tastes so good especially if you are coming in from the cold...This is brilliant... Gluhwein Serves 6 3 cinnamon sticks 10 whole cloves 1/2 large orange 2 cups water 1 cup sugar 2 (750-milliliter) bottles inexpensive dry red wine (such as merlot) Rum (optional) 1. Enclose cinnamon sticks and cloves in large mesh tea ball or cheesecloth (breaking cinnamon sticks to fit as necessary); place in large pot. 2. Place orange half on work surface. Using knife, cut thick strips (including peel, pith and a bit of fruit) away from orange. 3. Add water and sugar to spices in pot and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add orange rind to pot, reduce heat to low, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat. 4. Add wine to spice mixture and place pot over medium heat. Heat mixture, stirring occasionally, until hot (do not boil). Pour into mugs, adding a shot of rum to individual servings as desired, and serve hot. This is a recipe i had off an Austrian Women so its about as close you will get to the real thing...infact depending on the wine i have made it better.... |

Marrow Rum. Sorry it wont be ready for Xmas, but well worth trying. Ingredients: 1 medium sized Marrow. 1lb of Demerara Sugar. Or more if needed. Netting. Clean container. Method: Cut off about 2" off the top of the marrow(Stalk End) Take out all the seeds in the centre very carefully, with a long handled spoon. Pack the Demerara sugar into the cavity. Use more if needed to fill it to the top. No cooking required, Just gently pierce one hole in the bottom with a knitting needle. Hang the marrow inside the netting in a warm room,(not Hot) after placing the top back on, and with the hole underneath. Over the container. The Demerara sugar will gradually disolve and mix with the liquid from the marrow into the container. check from the top now and again to see the progress. When all of the sugar has disolved, give it two more weeks and pour to your hearts content. Enjoy. Cheers. Trev. |
