...states that “in every League Match each participating Club shall field a full strength team.” Last season wolves were fined for not playing a full strength team. this week Arsenal made 8 changes to their team. why are the big teams allowed to rotate their teams if the rules say that the strongest team should be played every game? |

It's always been one rule for one one rule for another but I do have to say Blackpool made about 10 changes a couple of months back and nothing was said. So I guess the prem just hate the dogheads. :D |

but wasn't that just because ollie kicked up a big fuss and threatened to quit if the FA got involved in his team selection? |

Too right. Who is to say what the strongest lineup is every week? It's a squad game these days and such rotation evens itself out over the whole season, because everyone does it! |

Do you realy think that would have mattered to the premiership big wigs. I don't even think they questioned it I don't remember anything in the media. I think the difference was the dogheads put out a team because couldn't win and they rested the better players for a game they thought they could get somthing from. Blackpool changed their team to rest players and Neely won. |

For me, its up to the manager of the team to pick who HE thinks is the best team for that specific game. What gives the Premier League the right to say "hes not good enough to play" when they allowed the club to register the player in the first place? |

Blackpool received a letter from the FA requesting an explanation of the changes, nothing was said after that so I guess they explained it well. |

clubs have to submit a list of 25 players and only that 25 can play for the club in the premier league, so whats the point of fining a club when they pick their 11 as long as they are from the 25. or to put it another way whats the point of the list in the first place. |

As maulley touched on above, I think the difference is that this season we have got the 25 man squads. So as you've named 25 you can pick any of these - whereas last season, there was no official 25 so if you picked a completely different team you could challenge if this was fair. IMO, its up to each manager to pick his team. Why should the Premier League deciede who is Arsenals, Wolves or Blackpools best XI? You shouldnt disrespect the competition (and I do think McCarthy sort of did do that but anyway..) - but at the end of the day, football is a squad game these days, and rotating players is done by alot of teams. The Arsenal team that played last night was good enough to beat Wigan - and lets be honest - apart from the disasterous last goal they conceded - no one would have mentioned the fact they made the changes had they won! |

In a nutshell - this You name a 25 man squad, so why should the same 11 play week in week out (barring injury/suspension etc) And in fairness to Arsenal they could feel there under 18's and still beat a lot of the teams in our league given the sheer quality they have in there youthranks |

I think this is it. Arsenal and Blackpool made changes and still went out with a team that the manager felt was capable of competing and potentially getting a result in the game. Whereas Wolves made changes in order to rest key players and not putting a team out which was capable of winning the game. This gifted 3 points to the opposition which could have potentially had a great knock on effect to the rest of the league. |
