Even a year before he came here when people on this forum were speaking of signing him, i said he would not be given time by blues fans therefore would be no point. Iv seen him live play for racing santander against malage & i can honestly say he was the best player on the pitch by a mile. His touch, his lay off & movement were class. But one thing stood out, not once was the ball played in the air to him. If you like him or not, one thing for sure if when he is playing it takes another one of their players out of the game as it would be criminal to let a 6 foot 7 striker free. So as much as people moan when he is on, it actually makes the opposition weaker too. He is NOT a work horse, he is NOT amazing in the air & is NOT a natural goal scorer, we knew that when we signed him so i dont know why we expect it. Get behind him and dont give him an ironic cheer if he heads the ball. He has the ability, but does he have the support?? He can be the difference tomorrow night & even at wembley in fact. See you tomorrow night **thumbup |

Fair point, well made. **thumbup I've seen glimpses of his touch and ability to lay it off to other players in clever areas, but I've also seen his lack of urgency, pace and poor first time touch. It's a hard one to be honest, I'd play him week in week out with Derbyshire next to him and they could do well then. |

Selling now when we dont have or seem to have any other options to bring players in would be madness If we decide to sell we must have a CONCRETE deal done for a replacement No a nod and a wink booked in for medical bluesesque scenario I like the bloke BUT i do not think the english game is up his street at all |

If we got a say £4 million pluss offer in all honesty i would accept it to cut our loses. Nothing against him as a player because as i have said i do rate him but that was in games where the pace is so much more slower & whena goal keeper has the ball you would not see the opposition striker in the half let alone closing them down. But if we dont get an offer then we need to play to his strengths & not his weaknesses. Its not rocket science, we know if we lump the ball upto him he will go to jump & not header it if you know what i mean? play it into him and let him face the goal as opposed to playing with back to goal. Its exactly the same with Jerome, he is an instinct striker & when facing goal is very dangerous. Playing it into him with back to goal & hope he brings others into his play is not his game. I do get frustrated by blues fans in the crowd that expect because they are in blue shirts to be world beaters but these sorts of people have never played a game in their life & think everyone should be like messi on their good days  |

Scored more than Rooney so far, and if he had Berbatov or Drogba, Anelka, up front with him....who knows ? :D |

Keep him definitely, we have no one to replace him. I think he can still come good, he has good first touch and ball control but really struggles for pace. I would give him time to prove himself, he has hardly had much game time so he deserves another chance. |

There's no point in a loan unless it's a definite sell, because we MUST replace. And if Jerome goes as well for say £6m, then I would full expect a £12m striker to come in - if not, we are Championship. |

Absolutely, never underestimate the power these people have. If they can engineer a transfer then they will. Remember, its in their interest to keep a player moving, the long-term interest of their client is secondary to their own interest of their own short-term bank account growth. |

well he hasn't been given the time by the manager has he? he hasn't started a game for a while (that i can recall) and has only been doing cameos for 10 minutes here and there. mcleish obviously doesn't think he's any good otherwise he'd be played. if blues had bought gyan or odemwingie they would still not be getting regular starts - look how they've adapted to the prem in such a short time; odemwingie has scored 8 in 17 appearances. no way would he have got that opportunity here. |

Different players and totally different scenarios. Gyan replaced Jones, like-for-like. So he had a starting place more or less gauranteed because Bent is not a very good, lone frontman. Odemwingie was a last week purchase by the baggies and seized his chance - having little competition. Zigic was bought with a view to playing off and alongside Jerome - that hasn't worked out yet and the competition for a second frontman is not much better. I see Bowyer, Ferguson, Gardner, McFadden, Fahey, etc etc, all spent months on the bench before they got a game? (In your memory?) :LMAO: |

fair points there alfred, however how can the derbyshire case be explained? what's he done (or not done!) to justify his recent inclusion to the team? gardner wasn't put in straight away - although that was more down to the form of bowyer and ferguson. fahey should be on the bench now. there has been rumour (so have no idea if it's BS or not) that zigic wasn't mcleish's signing, so maybe that's a factor (again only speculating on some potential BS i heard) but derbyshire is someone he'd been tracking for a while. |

Not totally correct. Another one of Pannu's digs at McLeish was that "no player" arrives without the manager's approval - the manager has to sign off on a player or no deal. That was Pannu trying to show how his own hands were clean when we're talking about under-achievers - it was all the manager's doing :LMAO: We got the Ziggs, really early - May wasn't it? - so that deal was not rushed and last minute. Plenty of time for diligence. The fact that Ziggs is such a slow adapter and learner couldn't be forseen. But he'll confound all his detractors. **thumbup |

If your boss comes to you and wants you to sign a form to employ someone to work for you would you not sign it? Then is 6 months later your boss would always say well you signed the agreement to employ then! That form would be useless, the fact a form is even mentioned sent alarm bells ringing to me as it should be standard that players are the managers choice anyway. |

I'd keep Zigic. The way we play is partly the problem with why he has looked so poor in my opinion. We lump the ball upto him expecting him to win everyball in the air and our support upto and around in trying to win the second ball is poor so it ends up coming back 9/10 of the time regardless if he wins the ball or not. The players are at fault with this too as some get lazy and just look for Zigic to hit, it was the same last year sometimes with Jerome when he was playing with Benitez and it was the same when Heskey was here. It is frustrating to watch... Just a point i wanted to raise the 3-2 reverse to Stoke we had Zigic and Jerome up front and i thought second half when we pulled it back to 2-2 Zigic was excellent as he stayed central and occupied their centre halves and had a hand in both our goals. I can't remember him starting many games after this... why? I think the guy needs a run in the team. its not just about him adapting to the English game we have to adapt to him as a team and he is not going to do this by sitting on the bench week in week out. We have good players who can deliver decent ball into the box now. We are just missing the striker to put them in be it Jerome or Zigic or both we need to start scoring goals so i think we need to go with 2 strikers from now on imho. KRO |

I'm all for giving guys a run in the team but I'm not at all sure whether Zigic CAN run. I'm a bit surprised that some claim that he's technically decent because I haven't seen a great deal of evidence so far. Still, here's hoping he will prove me badly wrong with a match winning performance tomorrow night. |

Why? he is the only guy i know that can jump under his own height!!! Sack our scouts they are obviously not doing their jobs and now imo the board have lost faith in Eck as he as wasted so much money on players he dont play!!! |

Give him time, a consistent run of matches, play to his strengths, utilise tactics and formations that give he and the other centre forwards the best opportunity to succeed, and who knows what may result? |

Well thats a major misconception. Just because he's 6"8 doesn't mean he's a player who should be hit long balls to. He's a more technical striker then that and his ability lies in his feet. He plays back to goal and links up with others with neat 1-2s. I don't know how many people can class him a failure when he's not been given a FAIR chance. A consistant run of games in the team starting from the first minute is what he needs. He already has goals against Arsenal and Villa so he should get a chance to start 5 games in a row, never know if McLeish actually plays more then 1 striker or uses the ones he signed the club may score some goals. |
